well... its finally all done... upgrades complete till the next 1 I guess...

for ur amusement, here is an exact copy of my most recent chat with the host tek support. this took 1 hour and 50 minutes! I got nothing to add... cept glad I drink or I woulda shot these douche bags :fri:

Depot: hi ralph.. after todays fiascal with servers going down... i seem to have lost mysqli completely

Depot: thats the error when i have my config file set to mysqli... currently its set to mysql
Ralf: I am not getting such error message
Ralf: Please let me know the steps to recreate the error at my end
Depot: no kidding... cause i dont have my config file set to mysqli

Depot: when i set my VB config file to use mysqli instead of mysql

Depot: ok.. i am the webmaster... this file is from Vbulletin and it werked before todays nitemare with ur servers going for a walk
Depot: do not try to pass the buck.. I have talked to VB already and they tell me its my h ost not running mysqli.. and i beleive VB over u guys rite now

Depot: ok, i just compared my back-up files from just b4 the crash to my current files... that section in the class_core.php is identicle!.. u want copies of b4 and after???

Depot: and that has not changed since b4 todays crash.. want a copy of the affected file?
Victor: which verions you are using php4 for your website coding. ??
Victor: As mysqli works only with php 5
Depot: Im using VBulletin v3.8.1 Patch Level 1 which requests php 4. something and up.. and ive already confirmed with them weeks ago that php5 is fine
Victor: So please contact your website owner correct the scripts accordingly
Depot: i confirmed all that b4 i allowed servers to be moved from sacramento to englad

Depot: I dont know how many different ways to say this but let me try again.... Everything worked fine yesterday. Today it does not. only major factor is the crash earlier this morning.
Depot: i was runing mysqli since the move to england server without any issue - untill the crash
Depot: the problem does not lie in VBulletin, rather it lies on micfo's end
Depot: I've changed back to mysql while we sqauble just to keep the majority of the forums up and running.. but i need mysqli for some of the more advanced features to work

Depot: and this would have occured cause my last major upgrade was done on sacramento which didnt support mysqli and thereby was done in php 4?

Depot: yes, i understand and requested that... but im asking since my last VB upgrade was done on sacramento, as it forced into php4 mode then and the migration to england didnt take that into account?

Depot: but u still havnt explained to me why everything was working fine before todays crash and not after? why did I have to waste the last 2 hours with tech support to get it back to the way it was before this mornings problems with micfo????
Victor: I am not sure who had done and what exactly the changes were done to your account
Victor: I have just checked and found that php handlers was not there
Victor: and therefore the mysqli was not working *
Victor: I have added the handlers in .htaccess file. thats it.. :)
Depot: o.k. can u explain to me why Ralph was unable to find what you found? instead, kept telling me problem was with my coding??? This is not what I've come to expect from tech support
