I have a 95 Tracker that as a roar when you are on the gas any idea's.

Sound like your engine cooling clutch fan is siezed. With the engine not running, you should be able to turn it. Also just open your hood, with the engine running rev it up and see if the fan blows alot of air. if your clutch fan is siezed, you'll have to replace it.

i second the clutch fan, but it could also be free wheeling too. i just ran into this problem on a friends S10 , the clutch is hard to spin for the first couple of turns then its like there is nothing there and just free spins with no effort what so ever. it needs to be sorta stiff but still turn while holding the fan blades or pulley.

Thanks, but the noise sounds like it is in the rear end or drive shaft, its not there if you are sitting still need to be driving.

1. Check your u-joints.

2. Check your pinion bearing.

3. Check your wheel bearings.

If you dont know how to check them PROPERLY, have someone like KAC look at it too.

going to pull the 3rd member out of flanders track on sunday and swop in my spare (might sell for the right amount of cash.. lol) got to find the noise ...he is going to drive me crazy .... might pull the 3rd and leave it out till he makes his donation to the board... lol

Pinion bearings... sounded fine on the bench
