I found this site on pirate http://durasolid.com/product-toyota-3-4.aspx
69 bucks for a spool, you'd have to be a fool. 92.00 US shipped to my door.

Welding werks great on sami carriers.. sucks A$$ on yota carriers...

the yota carrier doesnt have much meat in it and warps REAL EASY when welding in there.

I dunno bout these spools per say but I run a spooled rear with no probs (knocking on wood) for several years now.

Not to mention, I've broken 2 welded carriers in the past, both supposedly professionally welded.

4 cyl. Toy carriers are weaker and harder to weld than the V6 carriers. I run welded V6 carriers front and rear in my 4-Runner. I simply weld the side gears to their respective half of the carrier and I leave out the planetary gears.
I've broken everything else in a rear diff but never the welded side gears in a V6 carrier.

Personally, I would never buy a spool unless I had to. So much cheaper and easier to weld a diff that's already set up than setting up a ring & pinion on a new carrier.

I love welded diffs off-road because they are cheap to make and are predictable in operation. I don't run my Toy on the road much though. It's tolerable but the squealing tires in the parking lots get to me after a while.

I agree 100%, not worth firin up the welder when you can get a spool for under $100.

Put in a spool... They are reliable and work well...
I'm runnin a spool for the rear and Lock-Right in the front and so far I have no complaints... If the lock right blows up I'll spool the front too.
