so I'm getting alot of mixed reaction about doin it, personally I'm short of funds at the moment and welding my rear kick diff seems to be the way the argon is blowing.

I'm running 5.13's with 33's on a medium to heavy foot. am I in for a world of carnage?

was thinkin of doin it to a 4.10 gearset on 31's as well, what do ya think?

I'm running 33's welded both ends with sj axels, ok with an easy foot. I'm upgrading to Toy's soon so I don't have to pussyfoot around. just my 2 cents

I've run both and providing the licoln locker is done rite i think you'll be fine, ifnot, then replace ring & pinion and spend the money, cheap first with possible expensive later.

thanks all for the input, either way I'm welding it I got spare pigs if I f!@# it up,will a regular 220v mig be adequate? or a heli arc be more suited for better penetration?

Dont use the mig. I use a stick machine with 3/32 7018 rods and I weld the spiders only, with great success I might add. Tig might be a bitch, akward getting in there but if you can tig the spiders together , go for it. The mig always seem to end up with hairline fractures, of not broken welds. Gotta be nice with the skinny pedal too.

so what are the pros and cons of welding the teeth and welding the gears?

how about lead filled spools?

I weld the spiders together, as I said. Its solid and sturdy, no slop. I dont like the fozzy style cuz it now has 'slop' and yet it doesnt give you much movement. I just dont like the idea of 'driveline' shock, if thats what you would call it. I think it would be easier to fozzy it tho, pull the carrier apart and buzz all the teeth up. I dont see much of a 'con' in welding the spiders together. If it's done right it's bullit proof (my experience) but then again it's kinda hard to fuk up a fozzy so thats a pro. And stickin it the way I do it is a pain in the ass. I run several more small beads, ive seen people built it up alot in each pass. Therefore it takes me longer but gives me piece of mind. The lead lockers...... i dont know. Molten lead isnt good for ya tho.
