The first was the frame extension. This one is of the shackle hanger.
The one triangle is a temporary brace until we get the rear shackles in place.

Here's one of the e-locker in the front. Boy was it ever tight. Having a hard time tryong to get a better pinion angle without outboarding the spings too much.
Looks like i may be running an IFS rear and IFS front hubs to keep spring rub down.

This is a sot of the rear disc brackets for the toy axle. When i get the tires back off i'll take a pic of the centering ring for the sammy rotor.

Rear axle painted and installed. I have 12.5 inches clearance under the diff with these tires.

This is how she sits on the rear tires with the axle installed. Not sure how much the Cj's moved the rear back, but it is noticable.

All of this could not be possible without the help and curtosy from Lil beast. Thanks again. Were almost there.

I just re-read what i wrote late last night. The second picture is the front spring hanger not the shackle mount.

I'm not sure if your ribbing me on my lack of re-reading my words before i post, or if your meaning you want a picture of something else.

either way i'm not offended and if your after a pic of something else, shoot.

Everyone Thanks for the compliments. Tonight beasty and i decided to outboard the springs from the stock Toy 29" to 30" spring centers. Now i can tilt my pinion and still have 1/8th of an inch from the spring to the locker actuator. I'll see if my camera can get a close up. I really hope i don't rub springs that bad.
We got a late start this evening due to the fact i had to make some bling shackles for the rear of the spring. Pics later.

Ok here's a couple pics of last nights work ( of course while the game was on but we listened to it)

We re-did the cpring centers again to clear another part of the locker to get the proper pinion angle. Then we decided to weld it all up for good.

Rear shackle upper mount.

For starters I know from first hand experience, you wont bend your springs from a nosedive. Ive bent a few main leafs like that. As fas as reverse shackle goes, Ive heard alot of mixed opinions. I'll wait for Fullload to get done and then I can see for myself if I like it or not (if he lets me drive his rig :frag: )

I have been running S/R for about 6 years and I will not go back to a regular set up uless I pick up a stock rig and want to keep it all original. The only problem I EVER had with this system was at the "LOOP" and I was backing up when my shackle hit a rock moving the axle forward enough to make the driveshaft yolk slip out. A long slip driveshaft would have taken care of that.

I think it is more stable on the highway at higher speeds.

Thanks guys. I like clean workmanship, sometimes i may be too clean hey lil beast.
I'll let you drive my junk mudd. I drove yours right!!!. I dunno why i decided this system. I have a broken main leaf for one reason last year at the Mohawk fair and the other was bent when i hauled it all apart. Good enough reason for me espicially with the long springs up front, it made sense.
I have heard mixed opinions all over the place as well. Bottom line that i could figure on a shackle reversal is that if it is set up properly and your caster is right on the money you should have no problems. (taken into account the long slip shaft)
Toyota solid axles came this way right. Why not, i just want to be different like everyone else.

Toys came with a shackle reversal? None of the ones I've chopped up. I got a toy p/u in my driveway if u wanna come by and see. Like Mudd said, many mixed reviews on em. IMHO, from a physics viewpoint, i think they are great.. for Depots experience and driving style - they didnt do soo good. Again, a mixed review. Im gonna take another look at the p/u in the morning and post back if indeed it is a shackle reversal system.

The reason why i thought it may be a factory shackle reversal is the way that the springs are in line with the frame so they sleeve the frame right in the middleand use that to hold the top of the shackle.
Thats what i have seen pics of anyway. maybe it was custom that looked factory. Dunno never put that much thought into it.

Ok guys sorry it's been so long but here are a few of the remaining pics. All is left ( i hope) is the rear locker, bumpstops, trac bar and two front shocks.

Here's a pic of the rear disc with a ring installed to take up the difference from the zuk rotor and the old toyota rear drum. This ring guarentees that your rotor is centered on the axle and does not want to have a high spot and make your tires bounce at high speeds.
I'll let you know how it does. And the best part is that it is all bolt on!!!

Fullload
May 5th, 2004, 09:33 PM
This one is of the steering arm. I was told that you have to take the old toyota arm with the loop and cut that off to use on the passasanger side to get your crossover. I had a spare passanger (stock) arm and just flipped that over. It worked out way better than the last method i posted.
Heres a Pic. There is absolutely no interference or rubbing at all.

As you all know my Calmini Bumper was a B-Day gift from the polish Princess, and i was told not to destroy, or "modify" the bumper in anyway. (oh yeah i wasn't allowd to sell it it either) so here's what it looks like after the frame extension with a fully bolt on Calmini bumper. It looks like alot but on an 8" frame extension only to have it stick out 4" further is pretty good.

Now she sits on all 4's I get the rear shaft back tomorrow so that i have more than just front wheel drive. I installed the e-locker in the locked position in case i do not get time to wire it for the long weekend.
Here's one next to beast's truck.

Another Thanks to lil beast and Lil angel. without thier help, time and patience i would be still on Baby Boggers. Thanks.

Thats a good idea for the high lift. I was going to cap it and put a couple of ammo boxes there for straps and chains etc... I could add the highlift without a problem too.

Set up two front sammy lockers and got my front shocks, bumpstops and lines taken care of. If you look at the drop in the FJ 60 steering box it will hit the springs under compression. I put the bumpstop a little further down as a comprimise. I did not want to change a pitman arm this late in the game.
