Well, lemme be the first to say... Im a dumnass!!!

Ordered 15X10 steel rims for the bead lock project... even splurged and got them with a custom offset of 3 inches instead of the normal 4 (for toys). Even knew that they would be revese cut rims to achieve that offset. Well, we got the rear axel in today and tried to put the tires on... the little f**kers hit the calipers - rear disk conversion. Put my 5/16 " spacer on and they still hit - just a little but enough to piss me right off! The whole point of the custom offset was to eliminate the spacers and stop hitting my springs in the front. I havent even tried the tires on the front yet.. need to get the backs on b4 I jack the front up....

option 1 - put longer studs in and run 2 spacers on each tire - totally 5/8" of spacer. the studs will not be metric anymore so new lug nuts too.

option 2 - put one spacer on and grind the caliper down a bit where it hits.. not enough to worry about structural integrity and all but still a *$*$*!!!

option 3 - after may24, get the rims redone to be a 2.5" backspace - got a guy that does that, dunno how much. This means taking the tires off the rims - mega *&*&*! Then gonna have to repaint the rims then too.

Whatcha guys think? which option should I do for the trip down east and which one ultimatly?

FYI - for toys with a rear disk conversion, If ur gonna go custom offset reverse cut rims... dont go 3".. do at least 2.5". I'll let u know what happens with the fronts tommorow... i think Im gonna need a lot more rum to deal with this mess!

What about going back to drums? You have the parts and it wont cost anything.

problem with drums - after one mudd run the shoes wear out completely. Tis a lot of maintenance and $$ wasted. hell, its more expensive than running NOS! lol

how many of these rims did you order?
i would grind the caliper for the clearance needed, and it won't hurt any thing, i have done this before for a lowered truck with the wrong back spaced wheels.
the caliper and the rim never move out of sync,so them hitting is impossible, unless you forget to tighten the caliper or the rim, etc.
any way, getting the rims cut an rewelded would be more the the rims to strat off with???????
a 2" spacer......thats alot of spacer for anyone, let alone you!!!!!!!

got 5 of these rims, welded on beadlock rings and mounted tires... shulda checked first - dumnass!!!

dunno what it would cost to get rim offset moved.. will call buddy to find out today but for now Im gonna grined caliper and use one 5/16 spacer to get me by.. as the pads wear down I will get more clearance - they're still brand new now.

by the way, a 5/16 spacer??????
thats pretty small, didn't think they made them that small. is that a washer or what. you could run a 1 or 1.25" spacer and grind the caliper just in case, and your good to go.i am curious as to what your buddy wants to move the center section of the rim, would be good to know for future referance.

You can get 1/4" spacers

I measured the spacer ring today for fun, turns out its just shy of 1/4 inch buy a hair. a bunch of grinding and one spacer and Im good to go. Fronts bolt on no prob - damn close those too. Prolly run those spacers all round again till the pads wear down enough to go without. Muddmachine stopped by today and snapped a couple pics off, hopefully he'll post em when he gets back home (hint hint :D)

These are the pics of the grinding Depot administered on the problem calipers. I dont recall how much more meat they had before hand but looks like a bit had to be taken off.

tx for posting the pics dude... actually i didnt have to grind much off the calipers themselves, the biggest intereferance was the slider pins.. i ground those flush with the caliper and knocked down the corners of the pin mounts. I tried grinding the caliper body themselves but quickly realized that i would have to take off way too much to make it work. One thin spacer and the pins cut down gives me just enough clearance.

funny enough, the fronts fit without a spacer... very very close but it fits! When the pads wear down enough, I'll be able to remove the spacers.

D Correction 2" is minumum I have 2" and they lightly hit the rim, 5/16" spacer took care of that.

Maybe there is a non-vented rotor out there the same size? Just a thought.
