I got a question about tubing, i have bought some scedule tubing and some DOM to build a cage. Ive tried both in the bender and the sched. 40 bends great, and the DOM will work but it has to be ordered in and at $12.00/ft as opposed to $2.00 is it actually worth it? Im not doin 10's 1/4 mile in my zuk  but i do need some input. It is used sometimes as a daily driver and i dont plan on beatin the crap out of it on the trails as i dont have a tow vehicle or a trailer.

HELP!

Thanks all

Paul

I assume you are asking the age old question to go pipe or go tube?

Saftey shouldn't be an issue of saving a few dollars. The real question should be can I bend tubing with the bender that I have. Or , If I have access to a tubing bender, would it be better?

I can answer these questions with the following:

-Pipe is better than nothing.
-a pipe bender works well with pipe but not tubing.
-when using a pipe bender, substitute tubing where no bends are required as in the spreaders.
-if you are having someone do the bends with a tubing bender, go tube.
-a well designed and fabricated pipe cage is strong enough for the average wheeler.

Both my cages in Mud lite and FrankenZuk ar 1/3 stock, 1/3 pipe and 1/3 tubing.
