Whats the way to tie down a rig on a trailer? Should you strap it down by the axles? allowing the suspension to bounch free or is it best to strap it down by the tow points or frame which will compress the suspension. Our trip will likely take close to eight hours and will likely have the truck on the trailer the day before we leave. Any input?

This Q has been asked b4 in this forum but heres yah go anyways.. I preach tying down to the axels. When u tie down to the body, when u hit a bump and the truck bounces, ur suspension will compress which in turn allows all ur tie downs to be loose while the suspension is compressed. Given that situation a bunch of bad crap can happen possibly. Grab the axels and all those worries are gone.

my 2 cents

I always tie down by the axles to keep from what D said from happening. Another tip is criss cross the rear straps this keeps the vehicle from shifting side to side during transport.
