Hey there...
I just finished installing a Pony 1.4L Carb onto my sammi (thanks go to Szabotage for the hookup) I went this route for more power, like anyone would, and also because I thought it would relieve a problem I've been having...
When under load I get a backfiring through the carb. I'm certain it is due to a lean condition. It only happens around 1500-3000 rpm. If I can get the truck to criuse under vacuum over that RPM, it runs quite sweet. The previous carb, a stock Hitachi, did the same thing... Almost identical symptoms.
Could it be the fuel pump on the block? Are they prone to going south, and starving fuel? If that were the case wouldn't it bog and die under higher rpms?
I'm in the dark here myself... so any thoughts would be kindly appreciated.
Thanks.
