Mudball

*skip to bottom for short summary.
I used to be a **** guy *puts on flame suit*.
I had a '91 rok with ARB's, 6" lift and 33's. It was a decent truck, and I thought it was the end'all be-all of rigs. (standard **** owner mindset) :P
This weekend I took Mudball, my '89 SWB JX sammi out for some real trail testing. I wanted to see what the thing could do in stock form. (I have it set up completely stock right for safety checking)
The first obstacle was a 2ft tall rockface with some smaller rock in front of it, and a steep rolling grass hill on top of it. It took 5 tries, and a bit of momentum, but the sammi made it. Impressed to say the least. I ripped it through amudbog, just off the K&P near norway lake... I couldn't get it stuck. Even with water up to the mirrors in a couple spots. My Modified Heep had troubles in these obstacles before.
I threw the thing on all sorts of inclines and angles to see how far it would go before lifting a tire... I swear the mirrors were touching the ground, and it was still on all 4wheels. Even with the front swaybar on and open diffs, I could still get through some rocks with a bit of 'bumping' and the help of some momentum.
So I now consider myself a reformed wheeler. This stock, underdog of a truck is really friggin capable. I'm not 100% sure if it's all vehicle, or maybe my skills have improved since 2 ****s ago... Today was one hell of an eye-opener. I'll never go back to those heavy, overrated Heeps again. Sammi's are the better truck, stock for stock - and that's my opinion for life.
Coles Notes: Took my stock Sammi out. Beat the funk out of it. Tried things I could only do in my old modified ****. Absolutely amazed at how capable they are. ****s suck. Szabotage smells like cheese. :boot:
