I know its not a Zook but I am proud of it.
After a ton of design changes and playing silly bugger with the front suspension layout for 2 weeks its all done!! We built this car to do the Targa Newfoundland this year, my part is all done now its off for paint, driveline and fianl assembly..
Its the Pacione Race Team car, here is the drivers section

We did a custom seat bracket to get the navigator down low and out of the way. We bent it with a custom plate brake we will be making to sell to fabricators, its the shiz!!

I don't know if it really shows up in this pic but the main redesign we did after we finished the cage the first time was stretching the front suspension out two inches. Ya see the Mustang has a relativly short wheelbase in the racing world and this car will be going balls out for hours at a time meaning a longer wheelbase would be way more comfortable to drive. To do this we needed to cut the cage we just finished (grr) roll the steering rack back to clear the K member because where we stretched it would interfear with the mototr mount

You can see the stretch here, we cut the front bar and added a ton more room. You can see where the bar used to land, its the plate welded to the frame rail just behind the tire. With the two extra inches it rubbed a wee bit.
Oh ya the cut and splice of the cage was done with a piece of .250 wall DOM sleaved inside the the 1.75 .120 wall DOM. The splice goes 4 inches up and 4 inches down and is also plug welded into place so its nice and strong

Ahh anyway, here is the missing picture from above. The tube is actually straigh as an arrow, the shadow makes it look bent at the splice. Remember when splicing try to add a body gusset too!!

The trailer is out being painted along with the tow rig to match the colour the car is going. He needed to add all the sponsors etc to all three.
Good thing is he is flying me and 6 other guys out with him to put the car back together at night if he stuffs it..

can you do carbon fibre?
Mudslug
July 20th, 2004, 09:43 AM
No, its not worth it unless you just want the look. The dash weighs 12lbs as is, carbon would be 5 times as mush and you would only save 8lbs.
I can have carbon fibre painted on the dash if you want...

acutally i was looking for somewhere a little while ago to do some small parts in carbon fibre.
Just outta curiosity, what does a firbeglass dash like that go for? In ym car i have all the heating stuff removed, which saved mmm 15lbs maybe more. but the das it's self is where all the weight is.
What would it cost for you to mold me an integra dash? I'll bring you a dash

Why an Integra Dash? The one you see there will fit in an Integra....
PM me for pricing
