Looks like i will be in the parry sound area for the august long weekend and the week following. Anything going on? Does anyone want to come into ardbeg for some trail and new campsite exploring. I would like to find a new place to camp outside the 2km long weekend camping ban. I'll be making day trips in ..... possibly spending one night if there is some interest.

I am planing on a trip to coopers falls on the long weekend, been there a few times now and seems to be some good trailing (lots of rock and mud). I need some ore people up there to make it more fun (went there last time and ended up wheeling by my self :bang: )If anyone is interested give me a shout for directions and such.

Coopers Falls is just outside of Orillia off of hwy 11 (coopers falls rd) .
sorry to be a bearer of bad news but MNR closed the CooperFalls/Victoria Falls trails a couple of months ago :(
Apparently the trail runs through Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park. This is the same park that effects Anson Mountain and part of Minden trail as well.. :bang:
here is a map showing park boundries

Hmm, That is strange because I whent to coopers falls may 24, as well as july 1st, and I never seen any signs. Nobody said that we wern't supposed to be there, and I saw quite a few people while I was there. I was even talking to an owner of one of the hunt camps up there, and he didn't say anything about it being closed. well I suppose I will have to look into it and find out if the trail that I am going to is legal or not.. :-/ thanx for the info!!

we also ran that trail middle of may.. on May 31, Mike ( of northern lights) issued a statement about the whole thing:
"The park has been in place for a while now (at least a year or two). The issues has been who was in control of the land. It seems that there was a period of time where the management of the park was a bit up in the air. I have been informed that it is now in the hands of the parks dept. and that the classification of park it is under does not allow for use by motorized vehicles. The planning for that particular park is ongoing, Northern Lights has been invited to participate in this planning process (which takes years apparently). During planning, access to the park will be determined and the classification refined. I would not get your hopes up for being able to 4-wheel in that area after the classification has been completely decided as there are only 2 park designations that allow for motorized vehicle access and many many others that do not. They do have to alloow access for those who have cottages etc... but I'm not sure how they are going to do that, I imagine that this is part of the planning process also. Right now all that we know is that nobody with a motorized vehicle should be in that area, at least nobody who does not have business there. A little fuzzy but that is what we have to work with!

well the guys I met who own the huntcamp up there wanted me to keep an eye on it while I am up there because he has been having problem with people using his property (and leaving a mess) so I know I have no problems with taking th trail that leads to his camp. as far as the other trail is concerned, it starts right at the edge of that map you posted, and then heads north east (off the map) which you would think whould have been included in the map if it was park as well. all the rest of the driving needed to get from one trail to the other is on low maintnace roads so I am not sure if there are going to be any problems. I will post any information I find out about this area as I get it!
