my $$ is a wire grounding out. focus ur search from ur fuse block to ur coil especially where it bends and goes through the firewall.

try moving ur wires around (jiggle and bang em) with engine running.. see if u can find the short that way.

Intermittant shorts are a nightmare to find. A really bad suggestion and I do not recomend u do this but its something i do when I just cant find the short.... take the fuse out and replace it with a heavy guage wire.. a lot heavier then the wire to the coil. This way, when it does short out.. there is no fuse to blow and it will cook the wire starting at where its shorting out. Keep in mind... this is dangerous to do.... the wire will smoke and burn till it fails completely! U may even wind up with a wiring fire if the burn starts in a tight bundle.

Like i said, im not recomending u do this,,, and definatly not if ur driving!!!! but on the possitive side, it will turn ur intermittant failure into a diagnosable permenant one. Then its a matter of repairing the damage.

lemme reiterate.. this is really dangerous to do. if ur not confortable with wiring and willing to accept the possible consequences, dont try this!!!!
