Hey guys i'm planning to do a flatbed (deck) on my samurai and I need some ideas of how it should look so it doesn't look for lack of better words "cheesy". If anyone has this done can you post a pic or two for me to check out, thanks.

Take yer pipe bender and raise the custom fenderwells to give it some depth, i find the decks that just sit on the frame full width with some trailer fenders jutting out simply hideous. This is the way im doin mine so ill post some pics as it comes to fruition, which of course is after the LJ is done ;)

which ever way you do it be sure to extend the frame while your at it. then in time as your ready move the rear axle back and enjoy the new wheelbase eide and obstacles.

funny - I just hacked the back off of mine. I decided to make the deck about 4 foot 10 - I have 2 Ford Excursion back seats. I plan to make it so I can drop them onthe back facing the middle, or rotate and have just one facing forward. The bed will be aluminum (steel is getting so high, might as well) with perhaps a plywood surface or maybe a nice finished 2x6, with pockets for the seats. Plan is to end up with 90 to 100 inch wheelbase.
new unfinished website has some pics of the work in progress (also included my Toyota trans and axle behind VW diesel coversion).

Sounds like it is going to look good, website is coming along nice. I am going to make mine out of steel just for the strength factor.
