It depends ghow you are going to drive. If you drive the crap out of it, no. If you are soft on the gas, then yeah, I've seen it done a few times. Either way, you're going to get breakage here and there until you learn the limits of what's there.
What size tires?

my research shows that its not worth it. It is possible, and depending on how you drive it, it may last. But why would you go to the trouble of putting it in if you have to baby it on the trails in the chance that you may blow the t-case apart. The stock case it good for 150 -180 Hp. A good 4.3 should bring you to that threshold. Save the extra bit of money and do it right the first time. Don't forget about all those extras like rad, hoses, wire harness, tranny cooler, tranny lines, shifter, mounts, crossmembers, fuel pump.............all add up fast. Make a plan and stick to it.
My combo was 4.3,700r4,D18 and waggy 44's.

Funny how it was mentioned about open diff maybe takin alot of hp bit with a baffed 1.3 I managed to break the carrier pin. Id think a 4.3 would kill the pin in a heartbeat.

Still need to address the tcase issues.
I would go toyota case with either lowered gears or with Dual case set up... BTW I know where you can get the adapter for Chev engine to toyota tranny and case for 4-500 bucks... all connected already with tranny and tcase. I bought my diffs off the guy. If you're interested, let me know and I'll see if he still has the stuff. It's been a few months since I spoke with him, but who knows.
