When taking off, thru first and second gear there is a shudder type of feel in the vehicle driive train. If I take it real easy it's not as noticable. u joints seem tight and everything appears lined up. I've had the drive shafts out, but marked them so they went back the same. Maybe prior owner didn't. Any suggestions?

You have a clutch problem. Shattering when shifting gears is usually from oil on the clutch plate or a bad tranny mount. Worn splines on the input shaft of the tranny.
Warped pressure plate or flywheel and just about everything else in there will cause that.
Solution: Go to your favorite parts supplier and buy a new clutch kit (includes pressure plate, clutch disc, throw out bearing, and in the canadian tire kit they give you an alignment tool as well)
Remove flywheel at the same time and send it to someone that will resurface it ( like you would do with a rotor) and if your starter has chewed the one side of the teeth get them to flip it over for you. If he does not know how then i suggest you find someone else to regrind flywheel or you can take the chance and tell him to hammer it off , in the same fashion you would a bearing and then heat it up with a torch till hot enough to drop back on the flywheel and tap down to assure proper seating.
Oh while your at the parts supplier order a flywheel piliot bearing. it's about 10-13 bucks.
Any problems just remember installation is the reverse of removal :D
Good luck. By the way is your zook "blue" in color?

Just a guess, on the colour blue. The first clutch i ever did, i did not re machine theflywheel and depot (yes when i was a newbie) informed me on only half of the clutch mating suface was new and thats why i have a problem, and after a new disc pressure plate and a new machined flywheel i'm still wheelin it two years later and now it's in my 16 valve.
But when i did remove the flywheel it did look like a leopard from all the hot spots. It now hangs on our wall of shame.
