greetings -- just purchased an 85 SJ410 down here in new york state, not sure how it got here -- i'm planning on maintaining it, and it needs some work, but keeping it mostly stock -- so with the differences between the 410 and the 413/samurai, i'm running into a problem of only finding info, parts, manuals down here that are for the 413 -- will i do better for this stuff in canada? -- we literally live on the border, and do much of our shopping in kingston, on, which is only a ferry trip away

Most of us can probably provide any tech help or info u needed, it's not as easy as coming across the boarder & picking up a manual for it, most canadian parts stores are also unfamiliar with Zuk stuff to begin with.
You being in Kingston there are many Zuk boy's relatively close to you as well, so welcome to ZookPower and keep posting, i have yet to stump these guys with any of my questions, no matter how odd, this place is a bevy of knowledge!
Cheers

grumol you have mail. Like Sarg said, most auto parts places might not know very much about these little trucks, your best bet would be to contact a local Canadian dealership and just refer to your truck as an 1984 SJ410 otherwise you'll confuse the heck out of them...
Best of luck and let us know if we can help with anything

you need to find out what engine you have it could be a 1.3 not a1 liter i picked up a 85 for parts a few years ago and it was a 1.3 with narrow axles like a 410 but larger shafts and briffs like the 413 it was 3.90 gears also, not 4.10 like a 84 zuk was . i think it had a 5 speed tranny also. this might help you locate parts around home.hope this helps :D

yeah, i see where lots of folks have replaced the 1.0, though this 410 is very stock, but does have a "rebuilt" engine -- i'll know more once the manual i ordered arrives -- not sure if it's going to be of much help, as its not the shop manual, but at $5 i had to at least have a look at it, particularly since its a british publication that covers the sj410, not just the samurai -- its by ray hutton, 1989, and i think he was one of the authors of tghe british version of the haynes manual(which i cant seem to buy in tthe u.s) -- i'm one of those people who likes the haynes manuals, though they can't substitute for the shop manual, they're great at little tips for us shadetree mechanics
by the way, the " rebuilt" engine has a wicked oil leak, as close as i can see, up front, but not the oil pan, and i don't think the front main seal -- but this is all based on other engines i've rebuilt, perhaps suzukis have another seal up in that area?
i'll check it out once we get it out to its new home, salome, arizona

As I remember the 410 had a 1000cc engine where the 413 Sammy had a 1.3
a buddy of mine had a 410 many years ago and drove it all over the place
I also remember the early zuks didn't have a very strong heater

the 84 was the last year of the true 410, the 85 was teh change over year, anything that was called an 85 had the narrow axles, and 1.3, 5 speed. if you have a 4 speed, you have a 410. if you have an 85 lwb you have a 3.90 diff.
