Hey I'm new here and have started wheeling around with my cousin(he is a **** owner). He has a creek to play in near his house, where the water goes nowhere near his doors(as he is lifted and has 31's). I am stock and have water that goes up to my bottom doorline and water immedately rushes in... How do you guys stop the water from rushing in so quickly. I'm hoping my door could go in at least a foot under water and still keep water out of the truck!

BTW, this is a 92 tracker 2 door. I'm aware the Samurai's have drain plugs... I don't think I do(yet).

Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Roby!

trying to keep water out of the cab once u pass the door line is a lost cause. But if ur into lost causes, heres a list of where to start...

• redo all ur door seals - make em watertight (good luck on that one), and that includes ur tailgate.

• Seal up all ur drain holes with plugs and silicone. I pretty sure u have drain holes too, check under the carpet if u still have that.

• patch and seal all ur welds and holes in body. Including the bolts that go through liek seats and seat belts. LMFAO - thats a full time job!

• shifter boots... gotta seal em up too with something thats still flexible.

the list goes on and on depending on how deep u wanna go. At the end of the day, its almost impossible to keep the water out... ur best bet is to allow the water to come in, but enusre it has a quick way of getting out when ur on land again. Thats why i removed my drain plugs completely.. water rushes in and rushes back out when Im on land. Big rubber boots or golashes are a must at this point.

Keep in mind once u start going into water... ur feet getting wet is a minor pisser... ur engine and driveline is priority.... vent ur diffs, transmission/t-case, air intake (snorkle) ur ditributor, ur egr valve, etc. Silicone spray ur cap and wires and coil. Ur gas cap is vented so it will take water in there too if ur that deep.

they dont call me Deep Hole for no reason

Ok, so seals is pretty much what I'll work on, and you pointed out some other great entry points, thanks. I'm not too worries about tail gate, if I'm THAT deep, it deserves to be in the truck, but I mean, I'm barely getting to the door and it starts flowing in... its not like its in much pressure. I'll start sealing with whatever I can find at CTC :)

I've got a 93 Tracker, and before I got bigger tires and more ground clearance, I was fording water that was up to my headlights, and not getting a drop inside. As long as you haven't gone drilling holes in your firewall, or puncturing the rubber around the wire pass-throughs, you should be good. the only thing I can tell you to check are the door seals, and perhaps the shift boot as Depot said.

There are 6 drain plugs in the tracker, 2 in the pan in front of the driver and passenger's seats, two more in the pan behind the driver and passenger's seats, and two in the "bed" under the rear seats, if you have them. They're all under the carpet, and unless they got poked out, or poked through, they should be watertight, too.

Also, if you're going to be doing a lot of water wading, check out a safari snorkel kit. Even if you're not going above the block, water can still splash up into the intake system, especially if you're still running the stock filter system, which runs into the front fender panel. Hydrolock = :bawl: + :bang:

Went playing in the water yesterday for the first time since removing carpet, and it was in fact holes UNDER the carpet letting in the water... everything else is sealed nicely... so I will be welding up the holes and plugging a few (all properly) and I'll be able to hold water out and go for some nice runs :)

There's a lot to be said for a well-rusted out floor, it enhances the drain hole flow.
