if you could alter the powertrain ie engine what would guys go with,in a tracker.60 horse just doesnt cut it for me.I would like to go 100 horse at least.120 ft pounds.I'm talking full engine swap.thinking along the lines of a 1.8 beemer motor fuel injected, overhead cam, hemi head ,forged crank, nitride hardend camshaft/crankshafts etc.and 6800 rpm redlines.gimme some ideas.gotta look into the bellhousing and the like but thought you fellas would have some ideas.dont want to reinvent the wheel.

I wanted to try the following
VR6, light, powerful, small but its got alot of electronics
Small Oil Burner, powerful, small but heavy as the bejesus
Subaru motor, They don't die...I have seen one with 400k on it and the low profile of the motor will let you shave the hood a wee bit.
Porsche flat 6.....just because

Hey Mister, you could always swap your top end for a 1.6 16V and give it a quik port and polish before it goes in. 16V engines are already 94 hp (I believe) Gotta like the light wieght of these engines. More RPM ? Get the crank balanced. You could go all the way and balance the rods and pistons too !

theres an idea, what are the internals like on these things though, are they a forged crankshaft or cast crankshaft,I'm thinking the latter, pistons are probably cast.what is the torque curve on these things, are they like torque at say 3500 max rpm
hp at 5200 rpm ,I'm guessing here.or ???or do they have a more gentle slop you know what i mean, more in for the torque than the hp.

The Turbo motor out of the Dodge Omni GLH, there was one in Pickering that would do 10's in the quarter. Sounded like a huge superbike with a turbo when it rev'ed out

The crank....... have it nitrided or whatever the fuk they call it. Torque curves and hp curves exceed the 8 valve thru out the whole rpm range

The good thing about the 16 valve is that it bolts directly into your Motor mounts and bellhousing. I know that you have an electrical head on your shoulders so it should not be that big of a deal to switch or integrate the 16 valve harness.
I do not know any of the specs for this motor but i know that it is a rocket. The thing hits the rev limiter at 6500rpm.
Second gear with Toyota axles and 410 gears can hit 76 kms in about 6 houses. (i do not know the exact distance but it was short) that is my next swap for sure. It will probally smoke the rubber off my 31" boggers

I rememember way abck when, i was watching TTC with andrew and saw this little zuk pulling some transport trailer up a dirt hill... that zuk took the longest amount of time but actually got the bohemuth up the hill... poor little axels hoping away. The very next day I bought my 1.6 16 valve from Daren out at B&M offroad. It took andrew and I one day to pull the old sickly 1.3 out and slam the new 1.6 in with the adapter plate from rockyroad. OK OK so it took me a few weeks to get the wiring figured out but now, shes a frilling rocket ship! No port, no polish, K&N airfilter, 3 inch snorkel, 2 1/4 exhaust with high flow cat and flowmaster (cause u never know when I might wanna put my zuk back on the road eh! lol) and like fulload said, she takes off like a biatch! The city of toronto actually put up one of those automatic radar/speed signs that tells u how fast u r going and what the limit is on my street a few doors down from my house! how do u spell dumbasses??? By the time I hit this gizmo, i was only in second gear just passing 75 km an hour (in a 40 zone of course) turning 35 boggers with 410 gears. So i went to the top oif my street, about 20 houses from that gizmo and tried again... to bad that gizmo only has 2 digits on it cause I know i was past the 99 km it said i was doing and that was 4th gear.... my street just aint long enough to try 5th.
I really cant imagine needing any more juice than that on a zuk!

I don't know how many of you were fortunate enough to see uncle don's old tigger stripped sammy with the V8 and Nos, but it was one hell of a beast. I have seen it win its fair share of mudbogs.
That could always be another alternative for the outright insane, who thinks there's no such thing as too much power!!

Mudhog-jr glad you could make it. I wish i could have seen uncle don in that tigger looking zook though. I thought it was ablast when he had the red and white parasol hanging out of the roof of his Zuk last year at calaboogie. That was funny.

Just thought you guys might like to know,
The 1.6L 8 valve puts out 96 hp stock
the 1.6L 16 valve puts out about 115 or 120 hp (can't remember exactly)
From my experiance the 1.6L is a very tough engine , I beat the crap out of my first one in my 90 kick and it never gave me any problems (and it should have).
Just a tip if your going to buy a 1.6L to swap if you can get one that came out of a truck with a JA at the begining of the VIN, the ones imported from Japan for some reason seem to be a little more durable.
