Anybody got any ideas/drawings etc. for a 2 seat, front engine 102" wheelbase tube chassis? I'm looking for some outside imagination for a project that is under way. In other word something unique as far as the chassis lines/configuration/aesthetics/THE LOOK/appearance/body style
The build is being done by Spidertrax on behalf of SOS.
Code name "BULLETPROOF"
Basics are:
Tallest point...5 ft. and 24" of clearance under the seats
2.5L ZUK v-6
Hughes/Dedenbear powerglide
Atlas 5.0 case
Hi9 9' DIFFS W/35 spline ARB's/D60 outers
Hughes hydro
All composite/carbon fiber/Kevlar body components
Highangle shafts
Wilwood brakes
Cooling by Griffin
39" x 17" BFG tires and WRE wheels & air shocks
etc/etc/etc aka the best of everything
Ready to compete, but, legal for the street...........
Let the ideas flow................

PS I have some national mags interested in features and any ideas used will get credited..If they are implemented.........

Shit I just mentioned the other day I was going to build that exact rig. :bang: Now you go and do it first. Crap. Oh well back to the drawing board for me. :thefinger Oh well the wife will be glad I didn't spend the 200 grand. Dam I'm in a sarcastic mood tonight.

why not just buy a sidewinder? sounds like that what you want anyways

Those are the kind of replys I'd expect from pirate. :shame:

Kerry: Are you going to run a rear mount motor to get that little girth in the center? I played around with some ideas but when ever I tried to get the seats down in the weeds, the motor ended up being too high. Has anyone tried using a transverse mounted angine and making a gear box adapter off that? This would alow for a shorter hood that could be sloped down drastically. If you get it done. bring it to SuziCan so we can test out it's roll factor strength...LOL.

What are you running for suspension? Another though I had was using hydrolics in conjuntion with the Fox Shox to adjust ride heigth, Anti-squat and wheel base buy pushing the 4-link up or down. ( wheel base could adjust 4-5", ride height as much as 12" and Anti-squat could range from 50% to 200%. )

John,

As a simpler concept, have you given thought to hooking up a remote nitrogen supply to your Air Shox and regulating ride height by altering the pressure?!? I'm thinking of playing with this idea, but I'd expect to have problems with gradual oil loss each time decreasing the nitro pressure.

<end hijack>

Concerning ideas for the rig, have you seen the Blue Torch Fab rig?? It's a work of art. You could prolly get some ideas from that........

There's also that beautiful thing that they're building somewhere in Cali, I don't remember the site. Rotozuk knows the guy......

Bill: I'm not sure that it would be possible as the nitro is added at full extension and not at ride height. I think the ride height pressures are extreme, and most bottles only discharge at 600 max with a regulator. I would hate to take out a line on a rock. You have one pissed of snake flailing around.

At ride height, I have around 420 psi on my front Air Shox. At full stuff, the theoretical pressure is 1600 psi..........

Yes, the system would have to be designed for high pressures, but this could be done. Actually, if you think about it, full hydro is much more dangerous, hydraulic fluid at over 1200 psi..........

I'm still toying with this idea in my head, just got to think of a way to separate the oil from the discharged nitrogen.......

It takes less than half a second to completely discharge an air shock if you catch it on a rock, trust me I know :) The hose wouldn't get a chance to do much flailing.

I wasn't thinking of the nitrogen in the shocks as much as the tank he intends to support the system with, if the wrong line were severed...............? nasty!!!!
I agree that the oil will be a hard one to deal with.

Hell no!!! Two heads are better than one. What sort of pressures were you running Tass?

I'm running 240 in the front and 215 in the rear. I also added more oil all around but can't remember how much, 25cc's maybe?

WOW, my truck must be a pig in the front!!! I was running 190 in the rear and 450 in the front and that was with around 25cc extra, but I lost count. I think I need to get BillVista over to help me set them up better. Was your 240 at full extension?

<continued thread hi-jack>

FWIW, I'm running 150 psi / 370 cc in front and 120 psi / 385 cc in the rear. I've got around 4" of exposed shaft ;) at ride height..............

Mine are 14" Shox.........

Yes, 240 at full extension with 4" of shaft showing. My motor only weighs 315lbs so that might have something to do with it :)
