Can anyone out there tell me how to get the shifter out of an 81-83 sj410 transfer case?, as you may know, it doesn't have a simple push and twist cap on top to pull the shifter out. I took out that bolt on the side but the shifter will not budge. tried two of my t-cases with no luck. --help

They should push in and turn all of mine have. They will corrode in there. I've ruined them getting them out. Use a hammer and tap it down...it'll prolly stay down..the use a screw driver to force it to turn.

push and twist the cap around the shifter? or the shifter itself. on the two that i have, only a small lip of the cap around the shifter is visible, maybe 1/8" can be seen. the rest is cast part of the t-case.
