Ok, here's another one, will a samurai 1.3 starter fit on a 1.0 sj410 motor. Also, a 5 speed sammy tranny will bolt right up to a 1.0 won't it? I found an 82' sj410 soft top for a couple of hundred or less, no motor or tranny. I have a good 1.0 here and can get a good sammy 5 speed for 75 bucks. bit of work but i think it's worth it.

I don't think so I tried to put a 1litre starter on a 1.3 one time and it didn't fit. Not sure about the trani though. Since its empty now if your trying to get it moving if you want cheap buy a old chevette and put the entire engine trani in. Its a very easy fab the only issue is the getting an intermediate shaft made half chevette half sami. I did it and it cost $100 for the car and $35 to have the shaft made. Easy swap but not exactly a tonne of power but likely more than the 1 litre. I used a auto but a standard would give you way more kick and a longer shaft.
just $.02

A sammy starter will fit on Some 84 Sj's.Not 83and older.The 5spd.tranny won't fit on a 1.0 litre. It will bolt to a 3clynder firefly motor though.

yeah i saw a chevette diesel for sale in the paper awhile back, that would be a cool swap. he wanted 1000 bucks though, if the body was made of gold i'de think about spending that much for a fuk'n chevette.

Chevette disels are kinda rare...not many parts.....pretty gutless too

The chevette 1.6 litre aren't that gutlass if you get a newer one with the 5 speed. My auto is pretty bad mostly cause of the gearing but a standard in first can get the wheels spinning pretty quick. Mounting is easy too.
