What U joints are you using?? Is your D line binding anywhere? Is it out of balance?

I got some u-joint from a place that sell part for heavy equipment. My dad got some u joint there for the skidder. Evrything is stock. Doesent seem to be binding anywhere. It's the joints on the jack shaft that are the worst. I replace the tranny mount not too long ago and checked the t-case mounts. They were all good.

Check your tcase bushings or even the tcase metal mounts...mine was bent and the alignment was off and killed 2 U-joints. Are you using a greasable type ujoint? I had used aftermarket greasable ones before and it didn't even lasted 2 months. The problem was that the seals on the greasable units doesn't seal well because they have to let grease out during greasing.
I am using genuine Suzuki ujoint on mine and they last much longer....I don't even remember when I did a u joint last time.
They are triple sealed and comes pregreased with their special sticky grease. I know they are costly, but a SJ410 Ujoint p/n27200-73810 (may have been updated to a newer number, check with the dealer)will work on the Samurais. The only difference is the snap ring. The sj410 joints uses internal C-clip whereas the samurai driveshaft uses externally retained snap rings. These u joints will work and the bearing cap size are identical. Why to use the SJ410 U joints? Because they costs about $25 less than the Samurai ones, but basically the same thing. Just make sure you keep your retaining rings.

That is how much I pay for U-joints. They're the non-greasable kind from Canadian tire $25. My brother has been running one of those in his rig, still holding up, almost 2 years so far. Truck is driven daily.

Oh crap, spoke too soon. :bang:
My brother tells me his transfer case gears are waayy too slopy. he checked it in the dark. This morning I went and had a look, kinda scared me since he has the same gears as I. Anyways, the U-joint is shot.
So......... how much are those OEM's?:D

even though u dont see any bindage.. have u taken into account axel wrap? I've watched many a truck including my own when that sk8inny pedal gets mashed down.. that pinion angle doesnt exactly stay where u think it does and it amazes me that more u-joints dont snap considerinhg just how far these pinions pop! put ur truck on dry pavemenbt, get buddy to pop the clutch just a bit and have a looksie at ur pinion angles then..
just a though

Jimny1000 is right on the money. In order to make my driveshaft spline work with the 1984 handbrake drum i mis matched the intenal joint side that attaches to the drum with the female splined end to fit my driveshaft spline. So bottom line i have an intenal clip on one half of the joint and an external clip on the other half. One thing that you cannot do with the 410 and 413 joint caps is mix them on the same line. i messed up one of the caps as i was switching them over and used a 410 cap on one end and the 413 on the othe direct side.
What happens is that the intenal clip is deeper than the external clip and it will not alow you to mix the two together and it ends up too long and will not let you seat one clip or the other.
i hope you all get the jist of my blabber cause it was alot faster to type it than it was to figure it out the hard way when i was doing it :bang:

Thats why i go to a certain dealer and he lets me sit down with the microfishe and dig up my own parts and numbers. That way if i screw up i still have to pay (even though i know he would not do that to me) for the parts. But after your post i know that you do understand.

Suzuki Canada is actually pretty good since we can still get parts that is in the early 80s. We can still order the parts from Japan and won't mind special orders. Like those SJ410 Ujoints, they came in and they are new stock, not in a yellow cardboard box. I dealt with Morningside Suzuki in Scarborough and they have treated me extremely good. :)
