Ah, sweet. keep us posted on how it goes.
Wish I could go out and fire up my SJ416TD , still have the left engine mount to finish, rad and plumbing, wiring, fuel line and exhaust, spring over, and a strategically placed hole in the hood. :D
Are you using the samurai alternator or the VW's?

92 Honda Civic alt.70 amps . Iwas going to use the VW one but it was cracked pretty bad.I also run two 800 cca batteries one over each rear wheel well.

Is there any way you can run a tach since it was run off of the vw alternator?

I'm going to use a read switch and two magnets on my cam gear to give me a negative on off signal for my tach. I can live without a tach for a little while.

Good idea, I'll concider that if for some reason I'm unable to use the vw too.
Thanks.

BTW, what kind of rad are you using?

Istarted out using a sammy rad with a 14" electric fan.then when I was installing my intercoolerI drilled a holein my rad:bang: .So then I installed a Kick rad (just because I had it) but a stock rad will work. I used 1" copper pipe with two 90's to get my coolant hoses to line up. i'm willing to help all I can:D

I have a kick and a samurai rad here, The kick one looks much more substantial. Seems to fit nicely, going that route too.

I think the Kick rad is a bit better also.

I don't know if you had a power steering pump or not, but I had to take mine off for clearance. Now I dont have that for tensioning since it ran the water pump too. So, I need to run a belt from the crank to the water pump.
By any chance did you have to do this? If so, do you have the part # for the belt? Not too fun hunting for a belt that's just right.
sorry for all the questions, I appreciate the help:)

My alt is on the left side of the engine, so I use that one belt to run all of it.The belt I used for that is 37" long, keep in mind I used a Civic alt with a Samurai pulley.I 'm having problems with the alt it seems to be charging wide open and getting quite hot.I do not know if it is because the honda engine used to turn counter clockwise or not and now it is going clockwise or it could just be a bad voltage regulator. It had power steering and that's long gone . I know what you mean though. I don't mind the questions anything I can do to help.:D

I can't quite run one belt since the VW alt. will only fit on the passenger side, won't be much wrap around on the crank pulley.
Ohwell, hopefully I can find the size of belt I need without having to make a tensioner. Maybe, are those adjustable belts any good?
Anyways, have you driven the diesel yet?

no not yet I'm waiting to get a cross over steering arm .We can't run bent(z) drag links here in N.S..There are a few bugs to work out yet, I got my glow plugs working now this dam over charging alt. Mine was a frame off fix up so it's some what still in parts, but it's coming. I'm going to get an adjustable belt for a spare, Iknow of one on a farm tractor an it is still going.:)
