93 sidekick shift problem

hello when im driving all of a sudden the engine light will come on and the thing wont shift into second uless i floor the throttle then it changes gear ,let off on the gas it downshifts .any ideas changed the tps already,its a auto by the way.

Just guess but check your kik down cable and your vaccuum that comes off the intake. You may have a slack cable or a leak in your hose, or something silly.
As everyone knows i hate TPS's but i have to ask if you set it up correctly and how long have you replaced it before this problem occured?

sound like ur tps is not 100% bang on.. these things have to be set up very precisely.

also, check ur tranny fluid levels.

thanks guys,my temp guage was hardly moving even when hot so i changed it and its seems so far to be running good,i wonder if the engine wasnt telling the tps or ecm the engine was warm enough to switch gears,going out on a limb here,first zuchni ive owned,im a gm guy but my wife like these.i anctually dont mind driving it,thanks

What exacyly did you cahnge? I am curious as well. My guage will not go past the 1st line? I also would like to have an accurate reading. Did you cahnge the one in the thermostsat or did you change the one in the actual dash?
