Are all the 16v ecm's the same? I.E. 95-up man, and 95-up auto?
I have two 95' auto's that may need ecm's and have acces to a 97' auto. Should it work?
Does anyone know where to get 95-ups fixed?

95-97 should work if they are both Auto's but don't quote me. i am just using the basis that they were both OBDII ecm's.

you may be SOL, but the 95 was a obd 1, the 96+ was a obd 2.. the difference is the use of a dist. look at the numbers on the comps, they should be the same, or similar codes on em. if they all had 4speeds, you're alright

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking, but I couldn't remember if 95's were OBD2 or not.
New question then...96-up don't have dist? Have to go look at that 97 again.

96+ dist have a built in coil and ignitor.

Most of the changes suzuki made to Kicks happened in 95, so it's highly likely that the 95 puter is the same as the 96 ,but I have seen 95's with parts that match 94 and others that match 96, it seems to depend on weather the truck was built in early 95 or late 95.

Weird, I know they changed the soft top mounting in 95 , also I know 2 guys that have 95 kicks with air bags, but your right , when you look it up it says the change overs (other then the soft top) happened in 96....odd

Are there '94 16v's? I was under the imppression that up to 94, all 1600's were 8v and then in 95, only 4x4 were 16v.
My 95 has the OBD2 style conector, but in a different place from the 97. The 97 is the same body style and dash though. Only the grill is different. The 97 is in a junkyard and has about 2feet of snow on it. Otherwise I'd just go check it out closer. That and it was like -24 here today :(

In 1993 the 16 valves came out. Some say that they had "cooling issues" but i have seen no proof behind it. The only cooling issue that i have is that it will not get warm enough!!! total opposite.
I have a 1994 16 valve and there are differences. I have no MAP sensor but i do have a separate coil and igniter like some newer 8 valves ( 91-93's i belive)
I'm not sure about the 95's but the 96's had a MAP sensor as well as the coil and igniter inside the distributor.
All models from 93 and up have a MASS air flow sensor.

yeah, mine will not warm up all the way unless you are driving it, and if you idle long enough, it will cool back down.
Well, we will see on the ECM. I have a Check Engine light on and it will not communicate with a scanner, but it runs fine so......
Who repairs these newer ECM's?

Like Full said the 16v's came out in 93 but only in the 4 door model. All the 2 doors still had the 8v until 95 when they started putting the 16v's in the jx models.

i saw something weird in the junkyard the other day, a 91' 4 door! not supposed to exist. - and it had an 8 valve, also not supposed to exist. must have been gutless, 8v 4 door and auto tranny. this must be sort of like the 1.3 early tracker, a freak. i've never read anything online that suggests a 4 door coming out in 91' or a 4 door 8v.

The 4 door models were introduced in 1991 , and were powered by the 1.6L 8v . The next year (92) the 4 doors came out with the 16v.

91 kick 4 doors they made a clutch change too... from 7 7/8s to 8.5" clutch disk. Worth yoinking for better performance and its a direct bolt on conversion.
