Well i have a grinding noise comming from the rear end so i jack up the rear, put my hand on the leaf spring to crawl under and i feel the leaf move. Then i notice the second leaf from the top is broken. Soo since this is my daily driver i am not sure what to do. I was thinkin of upgrading to YJ leafs but don't know how much fabing is involved. Are YJ spring actually worth the time and effort? Or should i just replace the leaf?
Oh ya, i think the grinding is comming from inside the pumpkin. I am running my spare witch is a 205/70/14 and the rest of my tires are 215/75/15. Did that just **** up my rear diff?

In the rear diff running one tire taller than the other may have a very bad effect on your spider gears inside. Drain your fluid and see how much metal is on the magnet in the drain plug. Then put the odd size on the front, or get your tire fixed.:ro
As for the leaf, you are still stock. i would get on the ball and lift the damn thing or replace the leaf.
Why are you still stock to begin with??? You can be a daily driver with 31's and a set of 4.62 gears. can be done in a weekend if you know what you are doing.

I swear by YJ leafs... yes, they are a lot of fabrications. I do not know anything about the bolt on kits available and instictivly do not tust them... a quick run down
YJ's ar 2.5 inches wide.. zuks are only 2.. this means 'll need new spring perches on ur diffs to make up for the bigger size...
this 2.5 inch spring means that none of the current spring hangers are wide enough on ur zook... gonna have to make em bigger.. cut off and make new hangers...
YJ's are a lot longer thans zuks even rears... which means reloacting some of the hangers to make up for the added length... fir example, on my truck, my rear hangers are right ff the rear bumper and the fronts are about 5 inches in front of the grill, hanging off my winch bumper.
in a nut shell,,, yep, its a lot of work.. u will get a lot more flex and a lot more travel (assuming nothing else binds up like shocks or shafts)
if ur not after that 10% yet.. dont jump into it too quick

Not sure if I understood you properly or not. If just the second leaf(not the main) is fubarred then I have one you can have. I just disassembled a leafpack for the main, rest is in my scrap bin. I also have stock 3rds if yours is ****ed and when you are done with that I'll sell you some great tires you can run with minimal mods. I am in Barrie though, pvardy2000@yahoo.com

One reason that i am still stock is the money issue. I'm just an 18. I deleiver pizzas. lol. I just bought a car, well half bought. I need a tranny and a gas tank to get it on the road. After thats on the road i can finaly park the zuk and do stuff to it. I will also have a car to travel south to go pick up parts from you guys:D
BTW, anyone have a T5 mustang tranny laying around?

Well i got the grinding in the rear end fixed. Changed the gear oil, bearly any shavings in it, lots of gunk though. The problem was the rear wheel bearing was shot. Holy **** that is something i never want to do again. That retaining sleeve in front of the bearing is a damn bitch to get out. after a good 15 min of heating it and forcing it in the press the damn thing finaly let go sending parts everywhere. Put it all back together and now all is smoother. All i got left to do is change 2 more damn u-joints:upy: and that spring and then i'm all done, for now.

Ummmm i was under the impression that you have to cut the bearing retainer off the axle then press the bearing off. You can as far as i know by them separately but Just a warning. i hope it works for you but keep your eye on that bearing and retainer. That is if you re-used the same ones.

Well at first i tought that maybe a sleeve came with the bearing. When i pick it up, there was none and said nothing in the book. So i asummed i had had to re-use the old one. My dad said that the ford axles are the same. So far so good. Tonight i will take off my drum to see if the seal is sealing on the sleeve.

Seals are $4 (rear axle seal) available at crappy or napa. I change them everytime I do the axle. If you didnt change it, you should have cuz when you chew the axle bearing, the seal goes too. At crappy they are offering a 'economy' seal, $2, dont buy that one tho.
