Ok, i have an 87 samurai, i hade to change a bunch of stuff to another chassis. I got it all back together, tried to start it and its literally drinking gas. There is gas coming out of the return line, but it is pouring out of the exhaust. My plugs are soaked, she fires but is too rich to run. I swapped my fuel pump, that didnt fix it. Should I swap the carb? I have an extra that i know works. Also, it has no tank in it so i have the pickup and return lines in gas, straight from the pump. Could is there anything else that somebody can think of?
thanks, budslinger

Correct me if im wrong here guys, as im not entirely familiar with the 87 carb, but generally with any carb that does that it sounds like a needle seat or a float problem, i'd switch carbs just to see if that corrects it, then rebuild the carb that came off it. I remember a couple of Quadrashits i've had on past projects that once turned upside down, thats exactly what they would do until u rebuilt them.

C'mon guys, i know yer smart, help this Yank out!!!

On a sled when the it floods itself, it's usually the needle that is stuck open too wide. Dunno if that helps.
