I've been trying to figure out ways for a better overdrive with the diesel without going too big of a tire.
I was thinking about a putting a divorced tracker transfer case in place of the samurai's since it has 1:1 high. Then toy axles and 33".
Has anyone done this? Opinions?
I'd appreciate it,
Thanks, Phil

I already have the engine adapted to the samurai tranny, so I don't really want swap it out.
The diesel is a VW 1.6TD out of an '89 jetta.

I think the frt&rr outputs are centered in the nissan. It wouldn't be very hard to do a divorced t-case with a Kick t-case. The out put splines on a sammy trans are the same as the input on the Kick t-case. A little machine work and there you have it.

I was thinking maybe the yokes on the sidekick Dshafts are the same as the samurai's??? Rigging up something for the input shaft would be a little tricky, and also would the frt and rear outputs need to be non slip yoke?
Thanks

off_your_rocker,
I like the idea of using a tcase that is already divorced, but as for Nissan, I don't think there's much around.
Anyways, I was thinking of using the tracker case since I have one sitting around here.

I had a look through a nissan manual here, and the 85 and earlier models had the divorced case. Almost exactly the same setup as the samurai's. Since they are the same gear setup too, the high range will be effected when you put lower gears in, if they're available.
Zamboni case?, do they have 1:1 high?
