I must admit that Zook's are the only vehicle I have ever seen that with every break down a hose clamp is the ultimate fix.
Broken spring = hoseclamp fix.
Broken brakeline = electrical tape + hoseclamp.
Unfortunately usually every time I have gone out with PistolPete something either falls off his Zook or something breaks. Bob Caygeon it was his hub problems. Cold Water it was his spring snapping. Washago.. Wait, he was still offroaded his CJ then but that day it was minor tranny problems.
So far I have not been towed away from any offroading trips. I have also never broke anything on the trail besides the odd shock mount that is needed much anyway. Cross the fingers.
I learned early on not to cut up other makes of vehicles because when you least expect it, that same named vehicle might just be the only one able to pull your sorry ass out of a mud hole. :boot:

awwww.. the memories.... i rememerb the first time I met pistolpeter there.... and yeah, he was still driving his heep back then.... we were all driving our rigs to the trail and 10 minutes after we left petes place he had to pull over on the shoulder... something about no steering.... funny how someone neglected to put some coterpins in some castlenuts somewhere somehow??? i cant imagine what that was for! lol
somehow, we used a pop can to fix something else or was that part of the steering too? i dont memebr.. i was a newbie back then.. all i memebr is the 1 hour drive to the trail took us 3 hours.. a lot of tools and bolts and yes, not kidding, pop cans!
So b4 anyone gets the wrong idea abut zuks... if pistol is driving it.. its not the trucks fault for being neglected!!!!!
And yes, hose clamps, duct tape and red tie down straps and/or bunjee cords have gotten me home more times than I've driven under my own power!!!

not cutting up just stating the facts.....yes we do break from time to time but how many suzuks do you see that wont go into 4 wheel drive because the vac. actuator won,t engage???..a hub sticks on ours and u pull it apart 5 mins you ,re off to the next hole..... simple thats what its all about!

drtysuzuk,
It comes down to intelligence and knowing your vehicle really. The smart ones get rid of the vacuum actuator. That has more to do with the design of the vehicles then it does with reliability. That was a design for the idiot in mind giving them a on-the-fly method of changing from 2wd to 4wd.
However with that in mind there have been a number of times in my past where it would have been nice to have the on-the-fly method. One of those times was in my wife's girlfriends Tracker back about 8 years ago when we sank in a nice water hole. I was the one elected to jump out and try and find the hubs to turn. Got out and sank past the knees in mud.
Every vehicle has their flaws and every vehicle breaks down. Again, I try and stay away from knocking any one offroad vehicle. The only one I do knock are the full size Chevy guys. Those things sink like rocks and there ain't any way to get them out without the combined effort of MANY others.

the debate will never end, just like the CHEVY FORD DODGE debate. Same shit. We need rivals :D All part of the fun. All comes down to money and driver too. Whats the difference if we use toy axles and they use 60's ? All hybrids now.

Here is another good thing about Zooks. There was one broken down outside my company about 5 minutes ago. Three guys were able to push the thing at full out running speed without breaking a sweat. Sucks it broke down though.

Fukn crybabies...MAN UP!! Loyalties are often misplaced and in this case my 02cents worth says it's not as big of an issue in Brands as in different building and wheeling styles. For some of us the satisfaction comes from doing all your own work with your own blood sweat and tools using whatever budget parts source available. Man, if I can get my sorry ol P.O.S. that I crudely pieced together from beer(not pop)cans to a trail...wheel the hell out of it and limp it home 20 weekends a year for less than an average 1980's K-car...I'm smilin. It's all about drivers to me man. I've seen great guys do wicked shit with their stock Zuke and built **** owners I wouldn't trust to walk my dog! AND visa versa! Blah..blah...back to beer drinking...had to vent...submariner Johnny you fawking maniac, lucky for you you swim as good as you drive!

Depot,
Are you the guy all over the video that Pete made up for me? There was one scene at Beaver Dam where this person in question keeps driving back and forwards until he finally blows out his computer and is dead in the water.
