Tranny noise?

I need some opinions here.
I've used my '91 samurai as a daily driver for about a year now. From the time I started driving it, it makes a, uh noise like this TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, noticeable in 5th. Seemed to be a little louder today so I pulled out the tranny, took it apart. Gears look fine, nothing uneven, bearings "feel" fine. I was hoping to find a bad bearing :bang: There wasn't much metal fillings on the drain plug either.
I was thinking it could be the u-joints in the intermediate shaft since they have a slight bit of end play, but they didn't when I first started driving it.
could it be the engine?
Anyways, what do you guys think it could be?

You sure the bearings are good ? Im not bein a smartass here but alot of people dont know exactly what amount of slop or wear we can get away with in a tranny. They may look good but could be on the border line of bein pooched.

Do you hear it when you are cruising or under acceleration or deceleration? If you put the tcase in N, then go thru the gears on the tranny, do you hear the same noise or is it only under load?

I'm not positive that the bearings are perfect. To me they feel fine, don't grab anywhere. Checked the counter shaft for up and down movement with the indicater, no play.
The noise is louder under acceleration, 5th gear. I've tried the tcase in neutral and went through the gears, and I can still hear it in 5th.
Is there a possibility one of the syncros could be making the noise?

Well, it is the tranny, since I have another one in there now and it doesn't make the noise.
Still would like to figure out what it is.

Haul it apart and see what makes it tick. Depot and i are also curious on what makes em go Vrooommmm. We wanna challenge one cause depot blows them up like we change diff fluid.:D
