I tossed the belt on the bus on the way to Calibogie this past weekewnd. Shut her down, and waited for it to cool. Put on the belt and started it back up. Karen asked if the Aux. fan was still working, so i put my hand in front of the fan ( Karen said it was 4" away) I then leaned to the left causing my arm to pivot on the hood of the bus, hence pushing my hand into the working fan. only took a second for the blades to make hamburger out of my fingers. Cut to the bone, and a few bits left on the blades, I quikly went into shock and proceeded to walk down the shoulder of the 417 screaming a few choice words. Karen got me under control before I strayed in front of any on coming cars. She called 911 and Pierre to pick up the bus. Ambulance showed up in30 minutes, 20 minutes to the Hospital, 20 minutes to get a room, 30 minutes to see the Doc. another 30 minutes to get Xray, 90 miuntes of stiching ( 50-60 he lost count) and more xrays and a half cast.
my hand is getting sore from typing now.
ambulance guy was nice enough to ask the nurse to help remove my wedding ring (finger not damaged) . Index looked like hamburger, and middle finger broke the tip. I see the plastic surgeon Wednesday. Don't think I will be going to paragon :-(
Tylonol 3 is my best friend :-)
I'm going back to bed now.

Ahh hand injuries...the memories.
The good thing is your hand is one of the quickest healing parts of your body, I crushed my left hand to the point the doc in the emergency room removed the towels I wrapped around my hand and went "...oh...um....shit".
not cool
Anyway I was back at work in one month on light duty. One word of advice from a pro at this "use it as soon as you can"
Squeeze packing foam, play with a soft foam ball all day, in a wee while try crushing pop cans whatever but get it working as soon as the doc gives the nod, if ya don't it won't be right again.
Oh an sorry but NO WRENCHING, I tried it too early and redamaged a bunch of stuff...wait for the doc or physio(sp) person to say its cool...
And physio people are just doing their job...they are not there to cause you undue pain.....I think.
I don't mean to make light of it, I hope you are OK and heal quick...but I bet you won't do that again huh??

John, what can I say??? That sucks. I hope you feel better soon.
Be careful, and take your time before working on the zuk again... don't want to aggravate your injury.
If there's anything you need, let me know.
