Hey dude. what was it that you said I needed to do to the supra motor to yield those results? I was thinking maybe I might install a Supra Turbo motor in a zuk... 235 HP stock, plus *$%# with the turbo and get more? What did I need to do? What will it cost?
Thanks

Which generation motor? The older style you need to do the following
Copper head gasket $300
Shim the waste gate $5
Complete valave job and new seals $150
Fuel managment sytem $ 200-$400
That should be about 400hp if tuned correctly..here are the problems you will run into
A stock supra runs 38lbs of fuel pressure...you will now need 50lbs
With the turbo being "adjusted" you need to find a way to create the right amount of back pressure...good luck doing it cheap.
Where are you going to mount the intercooler?? it needs cool fresh air.
New generation is easier, copper head gasket, shim and chip reburn...650hp

what generation is the 1987?
Mudslug

The expensive upgrade generation...
Why not go with a 3.8L turbo GN motor??

Keep your eye open and get on the net looking for one...they are more common than you think.
What are your goals here?? do you want torque or top end?
Superzuk
August 11th, 2003, 10:49 AM
some torque and some hp... I will gear for torque though...
I think this may be for the pick up.
Mudslug
August 11th, 2003, 10:52 AM
For the pick up I would go 5.0 out of a Mustang or Toyo V6....
I say 5.o because they are a physically smaller block than the chev and the tranny is shorter too!!
Toyo V6 os a killer motor if you buy the right head gaskets to go with them.
Superzuk

what tcase would I use then? also, how long and tall is it???
Mudslug
August 11th, 2003, 11:18 AM
I would go divorced Toyo for the 5.0L or the divorced NP205 (I think thats what it is anyway...)
For the Toyo V6 go complete Toyo D train...
The 5.0L is (If I remember correctly) 4 inched thinner than a chev and 2 inches shorter.....if anyone knows differently let me know.

The 205 is the great big slut. Im not sure if you could get the 208 in the configuration that you'd need but it's a hell of a light lighter than the 205 and would do the job for a 5.0. What about a D300 ? Your knockin on Dana's door though. I see dana 60's in the future here with all this HP.
Stick to the toy stuff and you'll be able to stick with your toy diffs.
Buddy runs a 5.7 in his toy with a D60 rear and Toy front. He damn near spits chunks everytime he hammers on it. Should have the D60 front in over the winter.

the 351 is a mother torque monster though...205 is a bit overkill eh? Hmm find an old rotten Ford bronco full size and then bobs your uncle...
D44 front, d300 tcase and a 9 inch in the ass...(easy Mudd)

Then forget about big hp/torque numbers OR forget about using toy diffs.

I have a factory 1987 service manual for teh 22RE
also have a haynes manual for the same if you need it.
If you're really stuck, let me know and I'll come by for a look at it. I've owned about 7 of these little babies.
To start, Does it have spark? is it getting fuel?

kewl man, i woud like to borrow the manuals u got - save me from printing out the schems at my neighbours shop.
I havnt even sen the truck in person yet but from what i understand, there is nothing.. turn the key and u get zip. apparently some mechaninic somehwere managed to get it to crank over by bypassing the key or maybe jumpin the starter solenoid.. dunno nothing.. im going in blind again :)

Is this a white zook on 36's ? Or is this another one of the many butcher jobs ?
Depot
August 22nd, 2003, 12:39 AM
yes its white but no, its not on 36's... it is yet another shane butchery - fawkin amazing we got it running today.. the electrical problem was minor - missing main fuses and relay panel and all fusable links - cant imagine how that fell out???? Once i got power to the truck and replaced the pos k-mart battery with yellow top it cranked, it had spark and it had fuel - albeit stale as **** but just didnt want to go...
btw, many many thanks to lil-beast for all ur help today.. woulda been a 2 ay job without yah for sure and it was fun! :)
after many a crack i decided (against prevailing opinions) to reverse the wires on the distributor cap figuring it was 180 outta phase. we did get one hell of a bang and blew the air filter intake hose clean off along with a chunk of skin from my fingers holding it down but it really really wanted to go!!! and it did look kewl! :) oh yah.. i sorta had the throttle wide open while we were cranking taht last while :yike
it was agreed taht the crank and cam were out of phase also and a quick (if there is such a thing) timing chain adjustment went into effect. after that, trying to get the distributer back into phase was back in the foreground. on the third re-adjustment we got it and she fired up.. she idles rough... head is in need of a job badly, runs rich as heeps but she does run!!!
tommorow I'll be slamming a fuseble link and a main fuse and accessory fuse in and trying to see if I can figure out where the O2 sensor is supposed to wire in and its done.
If anyone is interested, we're gonna snap some pics tommrow of this butchery job and post em jsut so u can see why i call shane a butcher.
thats is all,, l8r
Depot
p.s. superzuk, many thanks for the toy book with schems... i wouldnt have stood a chance figuring what shane did to this with out those comple schems - can u believe the mofo cut off the data link port???? lemme know when u wnat it back and I will deliver it.. again, thanks :)

Awesome... about the idle problem.... if you rev it up, does it seem sluggish? has someone messed with the settings on teh fuel injection? When you say the head is fawked, why? tell me the symptoms... I may be able to help.
Also, as for the manual, keep it until it's running right. Shouldn't be that hard to get going right.

mind u, this truck has been sitting for a very long time.. the first thing i did was empty out the old fuel and dump some new stuff in it. U can hear the valves tapping away like tin soldiers - neeeds adjustments, i wont be doing that - no time. the exhaust smells rich as hell - the o2 sensors missing sure dont help. I think this thing needs a good running to get the cobwebs out and seeing as there is no radiator or cooling system in there now, i dont wanna run it for too long at a time. Im gonna fix the o2 sensor wiring, install the fuses and linx and thats it.. gotta get back to work on my beast b4 my trip.
As far as the rest of shanes butchery, i have no interest in trying to fix all his stuff.. already had to do that once b4 on my truck :bang: :bang: if anyone else wants to have fun with it, gimme a shout or lil_beast and we'll see what the owner wants to do with it.
