Hey everyone,

Quite frankly I am tired of my old 198X Yamaha tape deck. I have an MP3 player lying around but I am way paranoid of putting it in my Kick, mostly beacuse I have a stupid softtop. And I know for a fact it won't last a week in there.

Now, it came with a remote so I don't really care where it is mounted. I barely ever change CD's cause I get like 300 songs on one... so It can be hidden out of reach... but where and how?? I don't even need to see the thing, I will just use my remote to change tracks or pause, volume whatever... I was thinking of putting it in a box maybe under the seat... I will also keep the old Yamaha in it's spot for a decoy... hahaha

Any ideas??

I think I might just have to wait to get a hardtop...

Buy a military ammo can from a surplas store. cut out the bottom to run your wires through and bolt it under the drivers seat or in the glove box...whatever. You will need to bolt the radio into the ammo can somehow and then run the wires out the back.

There ya go! A metal lockable can for your player that looks cool.

wherever u mount it, the remote control must be in line of sight. there is a tiny IR detector on the face of ur mp3 player somehwere (look for a litle red square - usually about 1 cm X 1 cm,often hidden behind tint of the face)... ur remote must be able to send a signal to that ir detector directly... if u seal the stereo up comletely, remote wont work.

I'd Mount it up under the dash where your Ecm would be. Remember if you one day get a little wet crossing a river your little deck under the seat will not live throught it.
To solve the remote problem you can just piont it up under to switch options or even get fancy with a little mirror somewhere to divert the beam to the deck.
Or get a kenwood like i do where the face completly swivels 180 degrees and it is blank on the other side, so it looks like you do not even have one till you turn the truck on. (keeps the backyard thieves out but the pro's do know what they look like)

Like most people that see a detachable face radio in a vehicle 9 times out of 10 the face is in the vehicle because (nobody get offended here) they either forget it all the time in the house or if they take it out they lose it somewhere!!!!

I keep mine right by the doors and always remember to take out my face and cell phone. It's like a habbit now. I can't drive away without the face, just way to easy to miss. Silver face, black dash. And when i go places, i sometimes hide the face in the glove box or under the seat.

I just don't put one in the truck :-)
Too much happening on the trails to be bothering with music. Then you have to worry about not getting it wet and keeping the dirt out. I have a hard enough time keeping a working CB .

i had two different C.B. stolen twice out of my hardtop because they were in plain view.

Leave you cheap radio in the stock location and mount you cd/mp3 in the glove box. when you get out of the truck close the glove box door......you could even lock it. Only those who know it there will ever see it. Anyone looking for a radio will just see you stock radio in the stock location and they will keep on looking.

i mounted my cb in the glove box and have had no problems since.
