I ran into an intersting one today.... a fellow member on the board decided to dump in a 1.6 8 valve from like a 90 kick into his zuk.... formally an 88.5 with the feedback carb but the carb had been replaced with a much simpler one already and most of the wires deemed useless. So the plan is this.....
Use the 1.3 intake manifold, bolts directly to the 1.6 head - minor modifications to the gasket.. everything else is worked out.. vacuum lines, distiubutr cap - advance timing - etc.. all worked out.. cept one tiny littly thingie....
FUEL!!!!!
1.6 is an efi with an intank pump
1.3 is carbed with a fuel pump on head
use 1.6 with a 1.3 intake manifold.. how do u get fuel? Funny enough had a recent convo with another bud that had to put a carb into a 91 sammy when puter pooched and no relacement was available.. he said he put an inline pump in but it flooded the poor carb... he then put in a T connector....
1 in... 1 to the carb and 1 as a return line to the tank... what i cant figure is how he got the correct amount of pressure to the carb...
any help would be mondo appreciated.... if this wer my truck I woulda put the efi system in and done the wiring but we have some members that are more water logged than I so puters are just not an option :)

Ok.... First of all... 90 samurai's have an intank pump... the carb i put on (firefly) did not have a return line coming from it. So... I at first blocked it off. With the in tank pump unhooked because it runs too high of a fuel pressure (21 psi or so) i installed an inline pump. A couple months after i bought the pump and put it in, it pukes out on me. So.. giving up on the inline pump idea, i figured out that if u hook the intank pump up, and hook a T-connector into the main line and then hook the return onto that, the excess pressure coming from the pump will not go into the carb and flood it out.. it'll just run right back into the return line and keep circulating. This is much easier than paying $75 for a junky inline pump from CRAPPY tire. I dunno how the carb manages to block the excess pressure but it somehow does. It has run fine for me ever since i did this (a couple months ago). Hope this answers your question.

Ok also.. the inline pump didn't flood my rig out... it worked great... when it worked.
When you go to buy an inline pump there are low pressure pumps and high pressure pumps... low pressure pumps are like 2 to 5 psi, while the high pressure pumps are about 6 to 10 psi... the lower pressure pump is what you want for a samurai... at CRAPPY tire... they will ask whether you want an import fuel pump or a domestic fuel pump.. This is for pressure reasons. The import pumps run the lower psi ( and we all know suzuki is import - HOPEFULLY).. Oh, and if you want this pump to last, DON'T buy it at Canadian Tire. That is where i got mine and it lasted just over 2 months. Another buddy of mine has had one i think from NAPA auto parts and it is over 3 years old, still working great. Also, the bad pump that i bought has plastic ends, while my buddy's has a completely metal body, kind of like a fuel filter. So if you don't have an intank pump, this will do just fine. Don't worry about flooding if you buy the right pressure.

not sure how mine was done but it's a pony conversion i know there is an electric pump mounted close to the engine near the firewall ... i will snap some pictures of it and post it along with model number of the pump and brand hopefully that will help out ...

ok, so lemme get this straight... If i get a good inline pump for imports (a lower psi one like 2-5) i can hook it up directly to the carb without using a return line.. but if Im using a higher pressure pump or an intank pump from trackers or 90-91 sammy's then I need to relieve some of the pressure before it hits the carb by using a return line from a T-connector b4 it hits the carb and that way the carb only takes what it wants?

semi hi pressure external pump ... on a pony carb
23-6576-0 ct domestic pump
4.5-7 psi
no return line off the pump itself but a return line off the front side of the carb goin back to the tank ....

this is for a 1.3l engine ... and a pony carb swap ... my guess is if u can bolt on a 1.3 intake and carb onto a 1.6 then u can use this setup ... if it doesn't have enough gas then just change jets as this pump will bring more gas to the carb and just use it and send less back to the tank ...

hit UAP today got pricing on the inlines...
85 a pop wholesale pricing.... 5-8 pounders is what just heeps order all the time from this store, 2-4 import pump has the exact same price. forgot to ask what list price is - really wouldnt want to know anyways! lol

Hey! New guy here. I just finished putting a 1.6 8v in mine with a weber carb. I bought a pulolator 1.5 to 4 psi generic fuel pump and I bought a fuel pro in-line fuel pressure regulator. I run 2psi on it. It allows you to lower the psi to 1 psi if you need. Just a turn of a knob and it is done. I was using way too much fuel running it at 4 psi and after many discussions I found the regulator and installed it. Just what the doctor ordered!! No more flooding and it is running great!! HTH
