help putting in a transcase

this might sound like a dumb question to some but i was looking to get some advice. i have a 22r engine and trans but a 85 sammi transfercase. the frame is an 85 to (didnt know if that matters). anyway, how much work is it to put in a toyota transfer case. besides changing the shafts and mounts is there anything else to it? my case needs to be replaced so i figured it'd be better to just put in a yota one. or should i just put in another 85? no i dont have the 4:1 gears or ever plan on putting them in so that isnt a factor. thanks guys

Well the sami case is divorced, therefor u have a 2wd toyota tranny, so to put a toyota t-case u would need to change it to a 4wd tranny, unless Toy makes a divorced case i dont know about for a small amount of money.

why do u think u need a new case?

http://www.ottindustries.com/divorcetoyota.htm sells a kit to turn ur toy case into a divorced case for 325 USD.

keep in mind the rear output on a toy case is centered and way way WAY up there... I had to rake out my wheelbase in my truck and clearance the d-shaft o make it work.

how bout a nissan t'case? some came divorced but with a 1:1 hi range. not sure which models came divorced.

ya i totally forgot about it not being divorced. ya theres a bearing or something gone in it. it really crunches every once in a while. like when i change direction.

Only problem with an 85 you will have to make sure what flanges you have, otherwise we'll have to change some ds yokes around too

thanks for the offer sarg. and you gotta come back up this way to go wheeling again and soon. well i know i have an 85 in it right now so putting another 85 in there should be pretty easy i hope. as long as i can get another 85
