An annual safety inspection (AKA YELLOW STICKERS) is required:

On a single truck, if its actual weight, registered gross weight or gross vehicle weight rating exceeds 4,500 kilograms (9,920 lb.), or

On both the truck and the towed trailer, if the combination's weight exceeds 4,500 kilograms.

Look under commercial vehicle defined thread to find definition of "truck"

Definitions :
Actual weight - duhhh.. it what ur truck actually weighs including the truck itself, the gas, coolant, accessories, people in it, camping gear, whatever else u mite be carrying in it AND the tongue weight of the trailer!!!!

Registered Gross Weight - This is the weight u register ur truck at them green licencing issuing offices... The base weight is 3000 kg and for that u pay about $72 a year for ur sticker. as ur registered weight goes up, so does ur yearly sticker cost. the amount u choose to register ur truck at is up to you BUT it should be high enough to cover ur actual weight of ur truck, ur trailer, tongue weight of trailer and ALL ur load.

There is a "small trailer excemption" that will reduce ur registered weight and that will be dealt with in my next post.

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating - GVWR - This is the one most ppl ferget about!!!!

"The vehicle weight rating is the amount stated by the truck manufacturer to be the loaded weight of the single truck. The GVWR or VWR is usually located on the driver's door, driver's door post or in the glove compartment."

Note : All newer Dually's have a GVWR over 4500 Kg and as such require a yellow each and every fkn year!

Most of us here can avoid much of this stuff IF u qualify for the small trailer excemption.. next post!
