Hey,
Does anyone out there know if there is an upgrade that can be done to the master cyl. on an SJ? Mine started leaking a while ago, and I couldn't find a replacement, so I ended up taking one off of an LJ. It looked the same except the lines were on the other side. It works but I really don't like the feel of it. I really have to pump it up to get a solid pedal.
Anyone else have this issue? Can you use a sami set up? Anyone have any sugestions?

Hey Gears... after i did my rear disc upgrade i bled the rear brakes only. Brakes were soft. It was suggested that i bleed right at the master cyl where the lines come out and then work my way around and bleed all the breaks again at the wheels. It helped alot.
Here's a good link right here...

Hey Zuklin, thanks for the advise, I'll give it a try. I went to that link that you provided, but I can't seem to open the pictures, they just look all distorted. My question is, in the link they seem to be talking about a sammy upgrade, can you use a sami "power brake" set up on an SJ? In looking at my set up, I'm guessing no (at least not without some modifying).
Any ideas?

when you bleed the brakes make sure you go in order of the furthest to the nearest of the master. eg. back pass side -> back drivers side etc... and dont forget to check your fluid level to make sure theres enough in there. you'll have to fill it up a few times. good luck

i had a problem wih my master cycl last year before suzican so i ordered a new one, when i got it the day before it was wrong!! dismayed and not wanting to go with a leaking one i removed the resovior, pulled out the two rubber seals and they looked good. what caused it to leak was a tiny bit of corrision under the seals, once i gently cleaned it up and reassembled it it has never leaked a drop since.i dono worth a shot!!!:D

don't forget to bleed the one on the passanger side frame rail either. It is in the junction that spilts and crosses the rear brakes.

if you need the pics again i can post them when i get home.
Fitment is really tight at the steering shaft, i dunno if the Sj has the smae firewall or not. But if it's any shorter i am not %100 sure all honda ones will fit. Hell on the sj413 i am not sure if all honda ones will work
I ended up using a Subaru Impreza STI master/boost. The dimensions on the booster are smaller than the honda one, and the master is bigger. And the booster JUST cleared the steering shaft
