Well ive been on the hunt for a decent trailer for this year, gone are the days of borrowing stuff to get me to the trails, or even drivin a stock SJ to suzican FFS.
So last nite at 11:30pm im surfin the local classifieds and find this puppy:
20 overall, 16 foot deck, full base frame (was originally an open car hauler) Man door (with screen door woohoo ), windows, 1 finger flipgate with garage door spring (SWEET!), just gotta put 4 appliances in it and make it an RV trailer and im done!! no more tents fer this lazy ol guy!!
There is a few things i gotta do, like fab up some fender flares out of some alum flat stock and insulate the interior and set up for camping, but overall im super pleased!!

Hey Sarg, nice rig but of course Im here to try to burst ur bubble :D
I was talking to MTO last week bout RV's, yellow stickers and truck registration.
In a nutshell the rules are fked! Ur rv trailer does not need a yellow sticker as long as it qualifies as an RV. Now member that small trailer excemption I posted a stickie about... well if ur trailer does not qualify for that i.e. if it transmits more than 2800Kg to the road via its own tires while connected to ur truck, then u have to register ur truck high enough to include the trucks weight, all ur cargo and passangers AND the trailer.
That being said, if ur trailer is over 2800Kg, when u up ur reg on ur truck, it will prolly blow u over 4500 KG which means automatic yellow stickers for ur truck and CVOR crappola.
I spent hours researching this online and yappin to MTO bout it and it comes down to this...
Yes there is a yellow sticker excemption on RV's. But that only excempts the RV itself. Once u disconect ur RV and ur registered over 4500 KG on ur truck, then ur in the same boat as me. These rules were written a long time ago b4 trucks and trailers for everyday ppl became so popular.
Git that trailer weighed and find out if it qualifies for the excemption.

Thanks tons for the info dude, and yer not burstin my bubble anyways, i was hoping you'd chime in. If indeed with the appliances and my rig in the trailer it requires me to get a CVOR and a yellow then fawkit, im going too. This sport costs money, period. And if it costs by parts or fuel or trucks or stickers, to me it dont matter, you gotta pay to play. And if at the end of the day i cant pay, i wont play, but im NOT getting dinged for huge fines by stupidity, you have made it all available to those who should know, so at this point its on me to be responsible, and lets face it, thousands in fines pay for alot of parts!
that bein said, im making the centre section removable so i can werk under my rig when i lend it to u and ya break it :D

Is it just me or are you a tad bit bi-polar? Wasn't just a few months ago when you were getting out of this sport all together? Dont' think I'll bother looking up the thread, i'm sure you remember typing it. Anyway good to have you back, I wish I had the resorces to build a great rig, get it to the trail with out beg, stealling or borrowing. Maybe someday. I'm gealous.

Well my wife wants to trade in the mini-van for a 12 passenger full size van, for all her foster and daycare kiddies, that could be the first step in towing myself to the trail. Pop out a couple seats and I'm sleeping in the back. :brows: :brows: Its a start. Next a cheapo trailer, oh and finish my rig would be nice too.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda. I do know at least two guys local who would let me borrow theirs, but its always nice to have your own if I'm realy gonna do this stuff. Gotta get the van and my rig done first. btw, I'm trying to organize this wiring stuff so if you ever find yourself about 2 hours north. ah call me.:(

Fridge, Range, Washer, Dryer, that don't seem right.
Fridge, Range, Microwave, Dishwasher? na
BBQ, Toaster, George Forman Grill, 110v vibrater?
Fridge, Cooktop, Range, Water Heater?
What 4 appliance do you need in there?

You are the best, (weather permitting) you remember what my shop is right. If you come up I'll supply the shit out of Timmies for sure. Unfortunately that Saturday I can't get out of work. Any Saturday after that I could book off. Or best of all March 11, I am off. That one would work mint.

March 11th it is, pm me precise directions.
and appliances are as follows, all to be donated from an old VW campervan and a motorhome
Fridge-gas/electric
Stovetop-gas
Sink-hotwater heater/grey and clean water tanks
Crapper-portable unit plumbed into a 3rd holding tank.
the way it is set up i need more weight distributed in front of the axles, so small tanks will suffice just fine, they wont be big, and wont be drinkable water, but it will do the job nicely
