Hey guys, I could have asked 86sammi myself but I wanted to get some more opinions. I am currently inquiring about his samurai he has for sale.

I need to be able to tow my atv around and the longest trip is probably around 100km's one way, the other is around town which is either a 10min or 30min drive which is NOT an issue.

So that being said, according to the specs in his for sale ad: he is running the 1.3L sammi engine with 3.73 gearing in the diffs. Will I be able to tow with this samurai?

I was talking to dark shadow breifly about a 1.6L swap. I have also read a lot about it on zukiworld and I will search through zookpower eventually. From what I have read, I will benefit the most from the 16v 1.6L, but then I have to wory more about splicing the two wiring harnesses together. I breifly touched on the 1.6L 8v swap, but I don't know how much better it will be then the 1.3L 8v.

Still very new to zooks, looking for a first vehicle. I thought I wanted a V8 sbc, but I am leaning more towards v6's and inline 6's and if I can get away with a zuk motor, even BETTER!

What are some things I could do to improve poor towing characteristics?

U gonna flat tow or have a small trailer?

What size tires u gonna run on the zuk?

What speeds do u expect to get outta this combination?

I have a trailer, I am going to say total weight is going to be around 800lbs
His sammi is for sale with 33" tires. Talking about country roads (80km/h) with a few hills mostly. Ipperwash will be the furthest hike for this summer and there are big hills on the way up, coming back shouldn't be a problem because I'll be going down :D

If I need to hit the 401 for any reason, I'd like to be able to maintain 100km/h in the slow lane

if you have stock gears and 33s, it will barley hit 100 without the trailer.
I had 33s and a 1.6 stock gears and mainitng a 100 was a chore, started to get hot after a while
If it where me, i would want 4.62s and a 1.6 before i went very far or very fast lol

I'd say 4.62's would be more then enuff, maybe a 1.6 bottom end. Whut hills are you talking about getting to Ipperwash? Do u go through Thedford/Sylvan or something? lol I live rite near there and cant really think of any big hills! If yer worried take the 22 and hit the 21, its alll flat.

CZ, with his 4:1 what does that mean? What are his actual ratios comparible to then?

with his 3.73's are they more comparible to 5.13's due to his 4:1 tcase?

In hi range there is only a 12% reduction so i would consider it closer to 4.29's then 5.13's

I'd like to see a 20 year old sami tow anything at 100 km/h. Downhill maybe.
Sarg I'll come down and pick you up and we'll go watch.

Maybe switch it up and flat tow the zook with the quad:D stick the bike in the back.

It is possible Longy, i swear, zooks may not be known for speed but damn if those lil motor's arent torquey, but 100kmph on the 400 series towing without swapping a 1.6 i think is a bit much.

I drove the red one with 5.13's and 35's at 130k on HWY 28 and on the way to Greens.... it slowed me down a bit coming up some of the longer hills...

I think it's possible, but you may want to upgrade to lower gears...

Remember, these zuks work great at high rpms!
