Good news, I finally tracked down a LWB pickup thanks to one of the new guys on here named old man from Saint John. Bad news, it's fuct up and the motor's gone. I'm bringing it home anyway, making a decent beater. I have a good SJ410 motor in the shed and my 90' tin top sammy has a decent roof, windsheild, front clip, doors and fenders to donate. I'm going to cut the pickup where you see the blue lines in the front pic and weld on the new roof. If it works allright for awhile i'll bend up a cool flatbed, redo the body some and throw in a 1.6 EFI.
THE DEAL - he had 3 sj410s, so we agreed on $220 for the pickup, the transfer cases out of the other two tin tops and a mint sj410 grill off of the one not pictured. If I ever want to buy the other 2, another $100 takes the rest of them.
THE WEIRD - tintop and pickup are 84's, however, the t-cases are 83' style unfortunately,(no rock lobsters). Also strange, the tintop pictured beside the pickup is an 85', it came with a sammy 1.3 and a sammy 5spd. tranny but sj410 t-case, axels and driveshafts stock from the factory, very strange. It was a great day to be a zuki freak :D Now all I have to do is tow it home over an hour with my 1.6 powered 4 door tracker. Will the clutch blow?, will I be arrested? -- stay tuned.

Thats not rust

But a LWB Pickup
Is a dreama
The die was set
The mold was cast
Screw the world
Ill find the cash
Size dosent matter
Unless its for sex
But with a LWB Pickup
You will be the best

That 85 isn't that strange, it seemed to be a mixed year. My rig I had at suzican the last two years is a 85 factory mixed breed. It had the 1.3l 5 speed but the leaf springs were in bound more than the 86's and had narrower axles. the t case has the e-break attached etc. The paint even looked the same as the one in the picture it said Samurai Super on the side behind the door. Oh ya mine even had the fold down windsheild originally. It was usually hell finding parts for it cause nobody ever listed 85 parts and if it was axle stuff the 86 on never fit. Like brake pads and stuff like that. No worries its all been upgraded.
Anyway great find. post up pictures with the progress will ya. everyone loves pictures:D

i've had 85's with the narrower sammy axels and e-braked 85' t-case but this one had an 83' style case and actual SJ410 axels (smaller diffs with 4.10:1). Either he's wrong and it's not factory setup and someone switched the axels, t-case and driveshafts, or it's a freak of nature.
Anyway, thanks for the support, i know the pickup is beat but i couldn't let it die there, it's not time to put it down yet. The hardest part of the whole fix up will be the tow home next week. :yike

Congrats neal, A new beast is born again. I bet those T-cases have the same spline count as the newer style. :brows: Can't wait till shes on the trails, hope you make it down for a couple of runs this year.........moncton way.
