I don't even know how I did this because this happened sometime this winter when the RadioFlyer was still an automatic. The tranny finaly had enough and took the last train out so I flat towed the truck three miles to my buddie's garage and swapped in a 5 speed. I never heard anything from the rear end prior to this. After the new tranny was in, we took it for a test spin and no sooner was I out of the driveway that it felt like the driveshaft was going to blow up. At the time I thought it was the driveshafts due to different lengths between the auto and manual so I left it for a few weeks while I worked on other stuff.
Well last weekend the SudburyHeep guys organised the first run of 2006 for Sunday so Saturday I pulled the truck into the garage to see what was up. The driveshafts checked out so I jacked the truck and tried to spin the tires. They would turn about a quarter turn and then jam up so I knew it was not looking good in there. Pulled the third and the pics above was what I found.
So I cleaned out the housing, threw a spare welded third in there (no not yours Superzuk) and called it good. The next day I was not very gentle with it but it held up. Not too crazy about the 4.10 gears with 35s mind you but that will soon be rectified.;)

I was under the impression that the lower gears were stronger! I think bigger axles are in this 4Runner's future, considering the tire size will increase to the 39-40" range.:brows:
But then again, maybe I'm just a little harder on my junk than other people.
