Its the same as the Toyo axles just on a smaller scale. Scott used a pitman arm of a spare steering box and flipped it upside down then bolted and welded it to the top of the kingpin on the far side. What he made up is way beefy and will never break.
Take a look

Cuz you just dont, it's your steering being FULLY reliant on those welds. And may I ask, what did you weld this with ?

This was put together with an huge Mig that Scott has, its the second biggest one that you can buy through Snap On.
As for the arm the way we would do it is a bolt and weld thing...
It works easiest with Toyo stuff but can be adapted to zook...

And another, you can see where the original TRE is that the drag link used to mount to.

Uncle Don stamped out some steering arms very similiar to mine, except the arms come with 8mm studs and cone nuts and D.O.M. drag link, (supply your own TRE's) PM me if you wanna buy one

The only change I would make to that is to place a small piece of steel beteewn the upper and lower part and weld them up....leaving enough room to clear the leaf

Why Mudslug? you worried about the 4 studs/bolts shearing in this case? the arm that Mudd is running is the stage one arm. Uncle don added another piece to the crossover arm that bolts to the caliper bracket as well. I do not know how well this will stand up to the power steering but Mudds seems to be doing fine.
I will be doing the crossover and power steering this weekend and i will keep you all posted in regards to arm fatigue at the knuckle.

I also redrilled my steering knuckle so i could use M10 X 1.25 bolts

Why add the plate?? Why not? I always tend to add extra beef in where i can so I do not get stuck on the trail.
I guess i look at it this way. We drive over what our machines were designed and built for so why don't we over design our modifications?

hey man, remember my crossover steering arm. basically same setup as what u guys have here, 4 bolts hold it down.. i sheared one of em, a grade 5'er right insided the knuckle - what a pain in the ass it was to fix that break... it does happen - if i could weld to the knuckle itself or a part of it, I would have.
my 2 cents

4 bolts, what about the kingpin ? probably why it sheared.
