The T case on a Zook is not part of the Tranny like it is on a Heep, it is divorced from the Tranny with an intermediate shaft (or Jack Shaft). It allows for flex in the drive line and super easy fix if the T case ever grenades on you (which it won't). Also it allows for really easy engine swaps because the Tcase doesn't come out of the truck when you swap the motor...ahh the possibilities.
Here have a boo at this, it kinda shows what I am talking about

Divorced cases can also be mated to any tranny/engine combo....
Toyota's, Datsuns, and some older Chevs also came with Divorced transfer cases at one time or another...

cause it puts the other stick further back and if the lady's bored she can entertain herself!!!!!!:bo:
All kidding aside, my opinion is much like everyone elses, but to add a bit to what they're saying, i feel that it distributes less torque (breaking torque not engine torque) to more mounts thus causing you less breakage (cept Depot).
