Should i leave the rear locker in for the winter or take it out?
I was told it would be easy to spin her around (not on purpose) with it in

Ya you will end up doing some unexpected donuts. If you leave in, don't give any gas around corners, you might just end up in a ditch.

If you need another 4:56 gear set, I have a good set I would swap for a good Sidekick 5.12 (or 5.13 depending on your math...)

I leave mine in for the winter. Don't get any of the problems you guys talk about unless I push that little button on the dash.:D :D :fa:
Since my zuk is my daily driver, spent the extra on an ARB. Helps out when I want it to, not as a surprise.

hmmm i guess i'll try it out then see how bad it is lol
IT would probably come in handy in deep snow to have both wheels spinning instead of a peg leg burnout lol
DasZuk - I am looking for a front 456, i have spares at home i will check tonight what they are and let you know

The power steering would be a direct bolt in for the 1.6 block( thats what it originally came with) but the person assures me that he will come through and have me the cash early next week. If not then it is yours.

As they sit, I've got a pair of 4.56 gear sets on my bench, both are out of the housings, one set (formerly in the rear) has a couple of cracks starting in the pinion teeth, the other one, (out of the front) is in great shape.
When I found the cracks, I didn't want to go wheeling and wait for it to break on the trail, so I pulled them out of the truck, and I haven't found anybody with a cheap used 4.56 set, and just don't have the $$$ to order a new set at the moment...

wanna sell just the front 456?

Daszuk are you saying that the 456's are an aftermarket gear or is it just a different way of saying it is a 4.62 (auto tracker diff)? If it is an aftermarket gear zc911 the numbers differ too much for you to run a 4.56 in the front and a 4.62 in the rear, unless you buy another aftermarket gear to compensate.

What I have are genuine aftermarket 4.56 They are older gears - as in before Richmond Gear shifted production of them to asia and the quality went down the tubes...
In his post zc911 wrote - "dang guess i am gonna have to find some open 456s" thats what I based my reply on...
Gerry
zc911 - I'll PM you with the details...

hey i drove my zook welded in the winter for two years. in a way it is good because it is predictable if you know what to look for, you just have to pay a little more attention. as for doughnuts it spins nice and quick so if you do spin it just pin it!:D

October 12th, 2003, 01:02 PM
ya too much work to swap it out lol :D
i'll leave it in, should i end up backwards in a ditch thats what the winch is there for, and there are plenty of light poles around to winch off of :ro:
