Stuck in Netrual????

Hey everyone,
I have a problem, my 89 sami's t-case is stuck in netrual and it won't come out. I'll tell you what I was doing before it got stuck............

I took out the half shaft and the rear drive shaft. I put the tranny in netrual as well as the t-case so that I could turn the shaft's in order to get to all of the bolts with ezz. I changed a few U-joints and put them both back in. When I went to take it out for a test drive I tried to shift the t-case into 2 wheel drive and it won't go past netrual. I don't get it? Am I missing something? If you can help me out that would be great. Thanks.

Take your shifter back out. Look down the hole. Use big flat head screwdriver and re lign the two shift rails so that you can see an almost square looking shape. Stick shifter back in and shift happy.

The shifter sheet is probably worn out and there is too much slop to keep everything aligned. It looks like this:

Get a new one and be done.

Thanks again................I pulled the shifter and you were right, it wasn't lined up. I lined them up and put it all back together and it works great, no more vibrations:rofl: .

P.S. I checked out the shifter sheet bushing and it is in good shape, I just put a little lube on it to help it out a little.
