The gentleman that I bought my tires from (34-950s:D) mentioned using a slice of soda/beer can as an extra shim between the inside of the differential carrier and the side/spider gears. He suggested that whoever put it in would probably need to drive the spiders in with a hammer, and that it is not permanent.
I was thinking about trying this with my zook front while I am building a D44 front. Think this would hold up? I am running a 2.5L 4cyl and am at 81:1

I say try it, not like it will cost a ton, then if it works, you can do a nice write up and let us all know!

not worth it IMO as the aluminum from the can will shred eventually and then pollute all the bearings, a guy on a local site used to lock by welding every other spider gear and it as still able to come apart for service etc.

If you want something that's not too permanent, heat the spider gears up real hot, then fill em with lead... the lead is maleable enough that it doesn't ruin anything if it comes apart...
get the lead from a tire store's old wheel weight pile... Just be careful and make sure you have good ventilation when melting the lead.... it's toxic...
You can melt lead at fairly low temperatures too...

Do you think that a Sammi front would hold up leaded with 34s? I was hoping for a possiblity of slippage inside the diff. This is my trail rig only.

Dunno if the carriers are the same as the ones on a sidekick, but if they are why throw two extra spiders in and lock'em against the pin. Works great in my x-90 and you dont compromise the intregrity of the gears with heat.

Depends how hard you beat on it... I ran 34 9.50 swampers on stock axles with 5.13's without any real issues... just had to be sensible at times...

Im not one for holding the throttle on the floor and waiting for something to happen- I can be sensible. were you leadlocked in the front?
