what size tires would be recommended with stockers, not much mudding no rock crawling but , mainly driving, would it hold up to 38tsl's

I wouldn't go bigger than 33's on stock sammi axles for real world wheeling. but if you wanna go mall crawling they may hold up on 38's. just watch out for those curbs :thefinger

I would definately do some beefing up to your axels, minimum birfield rings, but if you can afford it run Newfields in the front, and run a hybrid rear, and maybe calmini shafts. (or even more bling, the sidewinder rear with fullfloater)
The question is though, even if the strength of the axels not mattering, are you going to have any turning radius? With 37s, my 3.5" backspaced wheels couldnt turn fully without hitting the springs on toy axels, only with 1.5" spacers was I able to get full use of my turning. The only way I could see you being able to have full turning ability is running 2" backspaced wheels with 1.5" spacers.

Ya 31's are perfect for stock axles, 33's you can get away with, but anything bigger and you run the risk of taking out axle shafts. if you want to run bigger than 33's I would suggest toyota axle conversion.
