View Full Version : Sidekick hubs on Samurai

I'm freshening up my front axle seals and bearings so I thought I'd swap out the drive flanges on my Samurai to Sidekick Hubs. I know Samurai Hubs are slightly different as to where the circlip goes on the axle shaft. So I put the Kick hubs on and the circlip won't go back on the axle shaft. The hubs lock and unlock ok...Is it alright to run the front without these circlips?

no. without that clip, ur birfs can float back and forth beyond their allowed specs. they can possibly bind up under full turn, the inner axel can float too deep into the diff so on and so on.
Find urself a M10 bolt I think it was. thread it into the stub on ur birf and pull ur birf back out that 1/4", that should allow u to put the clip back on.

Thanks...I'll give it a try...I believe Sammy manual hubs are slightly thinner. I saw a post where a guy was putting Sammy hubs on a Sidekick. The hub wouldn't seat it self all the way in so he made a spacer. If I can't get the clip in I might just put the M10 bolt and a washer in the end to hold the birf in place and see what happens. I spent some time rebuilding my siezed Sidekick hubs. Took them completely apart. I thought there was a bearing in there but it's just a bushing...I also screwed around for awhile trying to get all the springs back together properly. Now I know how they fit for next time. If they are greased well they are pretty reliable.
