I bought my motor off Szabotage a while ago. My father in law got tired of seeing it sit in an old mud tire leaking oil on my garage floor, so he bought me an engine stand.

I put the stand together today, to find out, I have no idea what bolt I need to use for the mounting.

I have all kinds of taps around here, but not one that fits right. I have an m12x1.75 bolt, but it only goes in three threads. OK...need finer bolt. I try a 7/16x24 tap, threads in, but loosely. Try another tap, same as before 7/16x24 but it was .005 over size, and it fit mint.

I don't think thats the right size though. So does anyone know what bolt I need for a 1.6 8v, so I can get this thing finally up off the floor to work on.

Thanks
Jay.

Thanks Full, I figured thats what it was going to be. Didn't make sense that it wouldn't be metric.

Furthermore, you'll find that it's the one fawking tap that never gets included in almost every kit you can buy! You can but the Canadian Tire 100pc set on sale for $50 but if you need that tap, and you ALWAYS need that tap, it will cost you $30! Bastids!

I hear ya about the tap, and those cheap tap and die sets!!

But I work in a machine shop for a living, so I am sure I can "find" that one to bring home.:brows:
